well people are paying 4k for a supercharger and more money for an exhaust system and tend to lose mpg. with the sts turbo you lose your factory air box and muffler and add up to 100 plus hp bolt on (and more torque) with no intercooler (more with an intercooler) and up to 4% mpg increase. they still recommend you use prem. fuel as with a supercharger but there are no belts to break or replace. i just like the fact that you are reusing the exhaust gases to power the turbine to cool the air force it into the engine and the unit is mounted at the rear of the truck to give more room in under the hood and keep heat away from it.

I didn't loose any MPG by going with a charger. :)

The entire STS system looks "rigged" when looking at the truck from a side profile. The tubing is visible on the outside of the frame rails, and is very obvious as it routes through the passenger wheel well.

FWIW: My local performance shop installed one on an 05+ with the 1GR. They had nothing good to say about it after the install and tune. Laggy, and vulnerable turbos with a design layout that leaves something to be desired. All that at 2K more than a SC installed, and leaving the factory warranty in the trash at the end of the install.

Personally, I have no experience with the STS. I think it's a good concept, but poorly designed.

You forgot that with the STS system, if you have to cross some water you run the risk of sucking into your engine.

    For one:
Lag is lame- There is still engine drag due to the back pressure from the turbo manifold- and if the turbo is rear mounted you are running a LOT of piping to that turbo to spin it- and that will affect your lag times.

    For two:
You can get up to a 4mpg increase- but you can do that with your right foot-no money involved at all.
and the truck will romp-but if you do drive like that your mpg will go to hell in a handbasket.

they have a snorkel kit to relocate the intake to higher ground and as for the mpg loss i stand corrected.
