    Yes it is the 1st Gens pull air from behind the head light so it does in fact pull in cooler air.

    This is the same kit I have and the heat shield is not flimsy. I Will admit the deck plate mod is way better but these intakes bring in air from the same place as the deck plate mod. And a stock are box is too restrictive so who cares if it's a CAI.

    Yeah the 2nd Gen kits do look like trash i like the 1st Gen kits I do wish they had a box for them. I may fab one up but I don't know.

    For 50 bucks... you are not going to be sacrificing quality. Quality Intake systems like K&N or aFe are upwards of $120.
