Hey like the title says I'm looking at buying a supercharger for my 2003. The guy selling it says he took it off when he sold his truck because buyer didn't want it.

There's about 80,000 miles on the SC, oil was changed every 20...

He's asking $1500 obo. Says that everything is there to just bolt right in, no 7th injector kit though.

I'm worried that 80,000 on an SC is a lot? I have no idea how long they last. I have about 80,000 miles on my 03' taco...

Any input would be helpful. The SC is black so I'm assuming that's the 2nd gen?

    Thanks

That MAY be a good price, depending on what all it comes with.

Which style of tensioner, extra belts, maybe a TRD boost gauge.

And after you get it, you will need a few new small parts from the dealer. Such as TRD throttle body gasket, some one-way valve I forget the name of, a belt if you still need one..

Thanks guys. These are the exact things I was wondering. I shot him low ball $1,000 just to see how he'd respond.

I'm going to ask him if he's replaced the nose cone, and exactly what all it comes with.

wow thats dirty.. he could have atleast cleaned it first.

But on the plus side, it has the dynamic tensioner upgrade and the 2.2" URD pulley (could be the 2.1", it will say on the pulley). Thats $400 in upgrades.

I don't like how it's dirty, may or may not reflect how he took care of it overall but not a good first impression.

I definitely wouldn't mind having my taco SC'd, now or in the future with more funds, but It's not something im killing to do right now. I just came across this ad and wanted to know how good of a deal it was If I could pick it up for 1000-1200, and if the price was right I'd pull the trigger..

    TY

But the ad says $1500 firm, meaning he doesn't plan on lowering the price.

Just because he says firm doesn't mean he won't deal. Cash is king and if you walk in and wave cash in his face then who knows. I do it all the time for stuff. If its something you don't need, then try to get a better deal, if he doesn't want to play ball its no biggie because you wanted it, you didn't really NEED it.

Agreed. I'm in agreement with what others said as well. Seems solid.

Also I'm not sure if anyone is still following this thread but I found another S/C I'm thinking about taking a look at it. It's a first gen (grey colored), looks very clean, has 80,000 miles. Seller says:

"TRD supercharger for the first gen tacoma from 95-04 3.4L V6
    great shape
Have with it manafold gasket, throttle body gasket, belt, manual, hoses, front plate and manual

    Asking $1000 or best offer"

The seller hasn't installed it on their truck, bought it then lost interest. How do you make sure it still runs before dropping money on it?

    Thanks guys!
