Deckplate Mod and Snorkel?

So I have been wondering about this for a while? Can you actually have a snorkel with the deckplate modification? I know that the deckplate has the removable insert for it, and should be sealed with some sensor safe sealant, but will it really do anything? I have been on this forum for a bit and haven't seen any threads, or posts regarding this at all. I have looked on TTORA, this site, expedition and overland sites, and nothing. Any info from anyone, or just chat about it to see what people have to say.

 

As a sailor I can verify that a properly installed deckplate with a well maintained gasket is indeed waterproof. Installed on the air box it probably wouldn't leak before getting to a depth that would require the truck's driver to be wearing scuba gear.

I would inspect the gasket and replace it if it's dried out before risking the truck. I give the ones on my boats an occasional daub of teflon grease.
