Does an aftermarket cat back exhaust really make a difference for HP or Torque? I know that auto manufactures tune the engine and performance to the exhaust and all other parameters and since the stock muffler creates a certain amount of back pressure for the engine, does it matter when it is not there?

More for sound than anything. Not going to be really any noticeable gains.

Agreed. You can tell a slight difference but I'm not sure if thats due to wanting to feel gains or actual gains. I'm going with the TRD exhaust this go around because its designed by Toyota to specifically work with our trucks. Peace of mind right there for me. :D

How much louder is the TRD cat back system than stock? I read where it's only about 8ish HP gain over stock but I wonder if that 8ish HP gain would be higher with a TRD SC kit. I'm not a big fan of V6 or I4 noise so if its louder, it wouldn't be worth the tiny HP gain.

It is only slightly louder. I have a TRD cat back and you only really notice it when you get on the gas on the highway, and then it sounds really good.

YouTube it. There are countless vids with guys having the camera by their exhaust. It's pretty helpful. I went with the Gibson Stainless and I'm happy with the sound. I'd like to say I feel huge performance gains and I get pushed back into my driver seat....Though it does sound better than stock.

Ya, the more I listen to them, the more I miss my V8 Tundra and Duramax and want the 2.7 and 4.0 to be as quiet as possible.

Put your head in a metal bucket.
Put your GF's vibrator against the bucket.

Now drive 500 miles like that.
