Ok so this is going to be for 'on road' only, and as i am very much into import cars aswell as our trucks, i have been thinking how about a 2JZ-GTE with twins. I know there would be alot of custom fab work involved but i think it would be so sweet in a X-Runner or Sport. Just the sound and the pull from boost would be amazing... I know there are turbos/superchargers for the 1GR but to all my import tunner fans out there you know were in comming from :)

Mine is 2jz 01 its not hard just time consuming biggest thing is around 550hp its hard to keep traction at 60mph whrn you hit it. And you need to eliminate twins and go single.

You will have to remove the upper tie bar to get it to fit it took me two weekend to get it in and get it wired then a few months with broken sensors and drive shaft issues and dress up boost and vacuum leaks. For the time and money if its a dd go ls swap if your going 1000hp drag truck 2jz or ls swap the gte's don't have a lot of torque til 3500 so off roading it would hurt you imo.

Look through my photos and the one with the bare block will show you the mouns that's also a th400 bolted to it.
Here's instructions on how to do it remember the motor you are getting is most likely out of a wrecked car.
    Mine was originally a 2.4 5speed

So first pick motor and trans I originally started with a 1jzvvti and a341e trans
-get a wire diagram start engine outside to check for knocking or damage and oil pressure
    - put a new crank sensor and timing belt kit with water pump because it isn't easy after instal
-eliminate all vacuums except brake booster, fuel reg., bov, and wastegate
-cut upper tie bar out after (everything) is removed from the front.
-cut the top of original mount parallel ti frame weld a flat plate to it
-I think your factory trans will bolt to jz block so that may help but limit you to 500hp max
    -install 2jz and start wiring
-then intercooler and tubing and exaught and cooling system you have to use electric fan
    - start engine check for boost leaks and cooling leaks
-if all checks out test drive then reassemble

Now if you convert to manual trans or want huge power with an auto you have to run a th400 or 4l80e and a lot more fab work
You need to figure out what your goals are 2jz gte not a good off road set up a ge would be beneficial because of compression but then the turbo kit and staying under 500hp you would be better off turboing your stock set up or go with a v8 now for a street truck its good high speed driving but without mods huge burnouts ain't gonna happen unless its a manual because of turbo lag. Also high hp you need a ecu injectors rails fuel pumps 10000$ you could build a good 7-800 hp set up including cost of block with stock internals

The one thing that I don't like about that swap, is that they kept the factory transmission. For obvious reason, to keep the 4x4. But it is the weakest link at that point. They cut and mated the truck's bell housing with the 2JZ's bell housing.

Which one is cut and mated my pics have a th400 rated over 1500hp. You can't see the bell housing in the other pics above and most 4 speed auto trans and r154 will mate to the 2jz without an adapter a341 on mine was out of a sc400 before I junked it

Dairy used the factory 1gr transmission. They cut the bell housing of both the one GR transmission and whichever donor transmission and well the gym together.

Ahh I didnr see any pics of that one. I thought the 1st gen tacos ran a340e trans so you could swap the bell housing from a supra straight to it like mine. Mine has 8bolts that hold the housing to the trans behind the converter. They also make adapters for gm trsns to toyota transfer case. After 500hp 2jz get expensive the best way to do a 4x4 is like we did my cousins 427sbc 4l80e and what ever transfer case it was bolted to with 14bolt rear dana 60 front . The 2jz swap was the biggest disappointment in mine until around 500hp but now mines a full drag and trans brake launches at 3800rpm.

Damn, i really appreciate all the information, i sure have alot more studying to do on it... The main reason i want to is i have always loved late 80s and 90s imports and i have always loved the supra and the MK4 is my dream car but the price for even a high milage is crazy. I figgered a JZ in a taco would be like the best of both. On the flip side i want to put a H22 in my ej8 civic and only so much money lol. Maybe one day i will have this all done.
