Do I really need a catylitic converter?

    Auxilllary backup lights, removed secondary filter,
    Do I really need a catylitic converter?

    Will a gutted converter, having a pipe run through it, increase any power or fuel effieciency?

    Will this create probems with the computer/sensors or anything else?
