African Greys are very very needy. They need to be out of the cage interacting with their "flock" (you and your friends/family) for at least 6 hours a day. They are very messy as well, and will destroy lots of your things, like books, shoes, clothing, furniture, walls, etc.

So I would say in answer to your question, yes, if you take good care of your grey, you will have a good pet.

If a grey doesn't get the time and attention that it needs to me happy it will pluck its feathers out, become aggressive, loud etc. Just look on petfinder.com to see all the greys that need homes.

This "Bird" one of my best friends, she spends most of her day fiddling around on her cage, we also have a large cage in the backyard with drift wood and such. She talks when she wants attention, in the evening she starts calling "Baby Bird, Baby Bird", she's calling me for her evening treat of pistachios. She's not dirty or any particular problem. Our four Italian Greyhounds are scared to-death of her :) and she will bite.
