oh no, I didn't mean she is in her crate all day, god no!!...my wife does take her out...she is just not on top of the potty training, thus the reason she is pissing everywhere.

 

I use that precise command and it works. In fact, when I take him on walks, he's really not allowed to relieve himself unless I give him the command. That way, he knows that when I say, "Let's walk," that it means we're walking and not stopping every two seconds to piss.

So, "Let's walk" means to follow me. He can go anywhere at the length of his leash, but cannot pull on the leash.

"Hurry up" means that I follow him. He's allowed to do what he wants and that most specifically means to do his business.

And when training a dog to pee on command, make sure you reward him. The instant he starts to go, mark it with "good" or "yes", and then pay him with a treat. They learn very quickly. And of course, you have to give the dog the time to do his duty. So the "hurry up" command is given almost immediately out the door at the nearest tree.

So it sounds like you really have a potty training issue at the moment more than a crate training issue.

So, my earlier advice about rewarding the dog when it relieves itself is key. Whenever you take her outside, make sure you praise the hell out of her the instant she goes. Then give her some high reward treats. Something really really good like hot dogs or steak.

And on the contrary, when she goes in the house, just give her a firm "No", but don't spank or hit or anything else like that. Then pick her up, put her outside and let her do her thing. That's when you start with the praise again. She'll eventually learn.

 

ok cool...treats and praise....take out every 2 hours....and use a smaller crate.....wish me luck gents! I will not give up on porky...she is too damn cute!! haha

Great choice! They are a lot of work and being smart often trouble. But worth every minute of it, at least to me. My older Toller is 11 this was exactly a year ago on the North Shore
