Meet Disco an 12 year old Daschund who was found by a good samaritan . He's a sweet affectionate dog who would love nothing more than to spend his twilight years in a home with some love and affection. He gets along with other pets & even likes to play! Don't be fooled by his age, he's still got some good years left in him yet. Side note - he does't have any teeth so he'll need a wet food only diet for the rest of his life. If you are interested in adopting Disco contact Villalobos!

this is a nice story

EATONTOWN, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey family whose terrier-pit bull mix escaped from their backyard during Superstorm Sandy went to an animal shelter this week to adopt a new pet and came home with their old dog.
Chuck James tells The Associated Press that his family searched for the brown-and-white dog named Reckless for months after the October 2012 storm before finally giving up hope.
"We reported him missing and called the shelters periodically, just hoping they had him," James said Saturday. "We always kept our hopes up, but eventually it's time to move on."
James said the family had planned in recent weeks to get a new dog as a 10th birthday surprise for their eldest daughter, Ally.
But when the family of five went to the Monmouth County SPCA on Thursday to adopt a new animal, James and his wife approached the first cage and saw a familiar face inside.
"He was a little bigger than I remembered because they had fed him well," James joked. "But then he was laying on my wife's feet, and I knew it was him. ... I was in disbelief. I know this dog is meant to be with our family."
When SPCA officials asked if they could prove the animal was their dog, a friend sent over a picture showing the family with their dog before Sandy hit the Jersey shore.
"We're all so happy to have him back," James said. "Thank God for no-kill shelters because every time they kill an animal, it's somebody's friend who might be lost. Thank God they didn't put him down because this would have been a different story."
SPCA officials say Reckless was picked up as a stray and has now been microchipped.
The family is living in a hotel while their storm-damaged Keansburg home is repaired. This weekend, the Jameses went on a camping trip with Reckless to celebrate the dog's return

I am into rescue dogs. My large dog Ruger was dropped in front of high kill shelter in north carolina. Saw a pic online, had to have him. He's great. Vet thinks he is a Viszla. My other dog Taz is mixed pit and german shorthair pointer. Both rescued and great dogs. Here are their pics. Also know that older dogs that never got dental checks and fed soft food end up the same way as people.(cats too). Rotted teeth [IMG]
The cat is boris. He's 8

Dogs and cats both can lose teeth as they age. My cats need a dental cleaning every few years. Something a lot of people forget about. Even at that they can still lose teeth just like humans normally do..one of mine had a few removed over her life of 22 yrs

It's not cheap to have pets, but my pets are pals that I have a responsibility to take care of. Micro chips, shots, dental,,etc. And you know the saying, the more people I meet, the more I like my dog! 22 years is awesome. My last dog was a black lab. He lived 13 1/2 yrs. All good years though. Spent 2000 on knee surgery when he was 6. My 2 boys got bit by a copperhead last year and cost 3000! I can't afford mods on my taco.

Don't worry, they'll love you a lot more than you'll love them. Makes it easy.

backed over my neighbors 15 yr old def dog today with a john deere gator. rushed her to the vet and thankfully nothing was broken or bleeding although her hip joint was dislocated. the vet was able to put it back in place and put a bandage on it that will come off in 6-8 weeks. i feel awful about not seeing her laying there and for my neighbor who loves the dog like a child. prayers for them would be nice! has anyone had this happen to your pet? was it ok after a few weeks?
