so i read this "vs" post between the d7000 and the d300s.

now i am ready to upgrade.

i currently shoot a nikon d60. i am torn between the two. so any input would be great.

    so here's some specs.

    d7000

    Price Point: $1,200.00

    Mega Pixels: 16.2

    frames per second: 6

    card slot: SD/SDHC/SDXC

    bracketing: 3 exposures

    fastest/slowest shutter speed: 1/8000....30"

    Exposure Modes: M,A,S,P/auto modes

    Highest ISO sensitivity: 6400

HD video: 1080p 24fps (bleh dont care i wont use the HD video much anyways)

    Live View: Yes

    d300s

    Price Point: $1,700.00

Mega Pixels: 12.3 (total pixels 13.1)

    frames per second: 7

    card slot: CF/SDHC

bracketing: 9 exposures (great for HDR's)

    fastest/slowest shutter speed: 1/8000...30"

    Exposure Modes: M,A,S,P/no auto modes

    Highest ISO sensitivity: 3200

HD Video: 720p 24fps (bleh dont care i wont use the HD video much anyways)

    Live View: Yes

so a couple things concern me about the d7000. they are cramming 16.2 million pixels on the same size image sensor as the d300s. so a little bit higher noise? BUT in the same token it gives more editing ability and cropping ability.

one of the biggest differences is the price point. $1,700.00 vs $1,200.00 is a no-brainer there.

one thing i dont want as childish as it sounds is an entry level camera. so im wondering if this d7000 would be entry level? because it is replacing the d90 which is an "entry level" camera.

so. i dont know, im stuck.

    i need some input!!

    thanks guys :)

OH!!! and it WRECKED its canon and olympus competitor :)

More megapixels will DEFINITELY not produce more noise, in fact it does the exact opposite, it produces a softer and clearer picture. Noise comes from low light, high ISO images.

I vote the 7000. The ability to use 6400 ISO is cool IMO

Really???? My photo teacher said the more megapixels you have packed into an image sensor (minus full frame) creates more noise.

honestly though im not too worried. considering these cameras have great noise reduction

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
More focal points that was the thing I hated the most with the D60 the three dam focal points. I lease the D7000 has 31 and the 2 SD slots are nice.
