thinking of buying a SONY A230L

hey guys i want a dslr but dont know anything of them. i guess all i know is the better lens you have the better pic you get.
i was thinking of a d3000 or a d40x but price is why i havent bought a dslr yet.
i went on walmart and saw a SONY DSLR A230L for 379.00 with great reviews.
i am not into photography, i just want it for family pics, my taco pics, ill use it once in awhile.
i dont want to buy a small digital camera because i always end up loosing them.
i did a search on here for the sony a230L and nothing came up...
ive always used sony and have always loved the ease of use... so thats why im leaning towards this camera. i dont know if ill need another flash or if its enough the way it comes. thanks for looking.
