I just got my first DSLR the other day and have been messing around with it and was wondering if there are any good FREE photoshop or editing programs out there? I've been seeing people talk about photomatix, but i really don't want to pay for one just yet. Any ideas? Thanks

Most of the programs you try 30 days for free. Your camera may have come with a free elements disc. You really want to learn to get it right in the camera.

I use Photoshop Elements. It's similar to Photoshop but it's a lot cheaper. Gimp is probably the best free one.

The GIMP is the best free one... It isn't as easy to use as Photoshop, but you can do pretty much everything in GIMP that you can in Photoshop it just takes a little bit more work...

I too use GIMP and it does heaps more than I will ever ask of it. I know that if you are familiar with Adobe Photoshop and the GIMP interface is awkward for you that you can use this free plugin named GIMPshop which replicates the layout of Photoshop for you. Not a Photoshop user myself so I've never tried it.
