How often do you use yours? I don't see myself using mine all that much. Just at sporting events and such.

more than my 18-55 thats for sure, but I've mostly been shooting action type stuff to get better at it before the enduro races I'll be going to this year.

For $100 that tamron should be awesome though.

I use my Nikkor 35mm f/2.0 a lot for landscape, but if I could I would like to try the, AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED it is a DX lens.

Tamron makes the SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II VC which I believe is an FX lens so it can be used on either format. It's also 1/3 the cost of the Nikkor.

I think the Nikkor is the better lens but if you are not ready to spend $1500 on a lens the Tamaron is a good alternative that gets you out shooting what you want.

    Hope this helps

    Paul

Edit: Both are f/2.8 lens which is nice to have.

yep, pretty amazing that you can make a situation look better in a photo than it does in reality!

Taken at night in Glacier National Park. The exposure is probably 10s or less (the stars start leaving trails around 10s).

It's amazing how much light is available in the "dark" :D

Here's another night shot. The bright to the left is the moon. Temple of the Sun and Moon, Capital Reef National Park.

One more. This is the infamous "moonbow". Lower Yosemite Falls, Yosemite National Park.

Try using a flashlight to light the truck. Leave the shutter open for a while and just as you're thinking about closing it, paint the truck with the flashlight.
