    I think a lot of detail would have been saved if you had stopped down on your lens. looks like you shot wide open(per the exif data). different eyes, different styles

    Yep that one was wide open(focused on the lower right bunch of tree green)... I had been shooting one wide open and one stopped down but of course not on the one shot I kinda liked from the day(was the last shot and was ready to cap the lens for the day)... I really wonder how we would edit this if we were all looking at the same monitor?

    @Colin, way cool!

    I would still edit it the way I did. my monitor is an old 21" that isn't calibrated. I will in the not so distant future upgrade, so I could do some prints.

    It takes about 30 sec or more for the star trails to start showing. This is one shot at 960.5 sec (16 min) to give you an idea.

    ^^^This was when I was playing around learning about long exposures.

    Here's my edit of the pic. I went B&W with it to maybe get a little bit better detail in it and used a few graduated filters to tone it down a bit in the brighter areas in LR. Then I shot it over to PS to sharpen and play with overall contrast once more.

    Awesome shot...very lucky.

    Reminds me of one of my own. ISO was a bit too high, but I only had my cell phone's flash so I made do with what I had.

    Also since, we're on star trails, here's one of mine.

    Very cool shot! I love the colors in it! It's a small world, I took this shot at a event you guys are sponsoring. The thrill on the hill.
