Haha I experienced this a few days ago. Didn't expect to do anything in Vegas other than work since I went with a couple and a guy that has friends there and has lived in Vegas for 5 years before.

Get there and all I do is go exploring with the couple at the Hoover Dam, the strip, and an amusement park... :(

Didn't expect to have much down time. Was only there for a couple days and worked both of those days.

Buy a nice point and shoot and keep it with you. Doesn't have to be fancy-just basic controls (including manual) and keep it with you. Problem solved.

Mirrorless cameras are the size of point and shoots with the sensors from DSLRs. If you really want to carry a small camera with high quality Sony, Olympus, Fuji, etc. all have amazing cameras.

In fact. Did anyone see the press release for the new Sony A7S. They have a 36mp "R" model for resolution and now they just released a new "S" model for sensitivity. The things has 12.2 mp and supposedly similar or better high ISO range to the new D4s. Look it up.

I prefer m43 with Olympus OM-D or Fuji X if you want a small camera, but I hand it to Sony for their innovations and sensors. I'd LOVE to have that 12mp FF sensor in a different body with a different lens lineup haha

One nice thing about only having one lens, was only carrying a small case, easy to pack everywhere. Now I have to take my pack everywhere. Small price to pay I suppose.

I like mirrorless cameras, but by the time you stick a good lens on the front it doesn't fit in your pocket anymore.. I might as well just bring a real camera then :p

I've been thinking about picking up a used Canon S110 on ebay..

Just got a Wacom tablet. It takes a little getting use to but makes a huge difference for post work!

Olympus OM-D E-M10 with the kit zoom or a tiny prime will fit in your pocket. Heck, my Fuji X-T1 and 27mm pancake fit in my pocket and its much larger than the OM-D. I'm not sure what this stigma of a "real camera" is haha just different tools. DSLR focuses better on moving subjects, such as with sports. If you don't need that, what's wrong with a smaller camera with the exact same or better sensor and lenses? ha

If the Fuji fits in my jacket pocket then the Oly fits in yours ha

I have an S90. It's a pretty good pocket camera. About the only thing I don't like is leaves over the lens. Do not get any dirt on them.

When I say real I'm mostly referring to size. Using small cameras for long periods of time drives me crazy. My hands get cramped. Plus I work best when I have all my controls so I don't have to look at a screen. I think I only used one of the early Panasonic micro 4/3 and I liked it but didn't like it. It was a nice portable size but my hands felt cramped and I couldn't change as much as I'm used to through the viewfinder.

I'll admit after that I didn't do much with the newer mirror less cameras because I just like using my 7D so much. Pancake lenses are the whole reason I started looking at them anyway :) but in my case it's more about weight then bulk when I say it fits in my pocket.

Yeah, I've always hated the little iris lens covers, but if I can get an s110 on eBay for $150 or so that would be good with me. I've had a lot of canon point and shoots and they are always great, but my last one (SD1400) was aggravating me with its JPEG compression. That's why I decided if I get another point and shoot, it has to be able to do some form of RAW file.

I learned this after I went out. Should have researched the Lick and stick method :)

Very cool. The housing prices are coming down with newer technologies evolving.

This was why I got into photography two years ago. Too many neat things to share

I travel for work and my next job may be in Moscow. I'm excited and worried bringing my kit there. I may test the waters 1st with a small assortment and see how it goes for the next hitch
