Yes as far as I can tell. It was a real nuisance this weekend. I know to avoid taking photos into the sun like this, or zoom, or find a way to block the sun with an object... Just seems not right to have to be so careful... And when I say consistent I mean as soon as the sun is in the frame, bam, little yellowish spot pops up.

So,ething foul be on the lens or sensor to cause that. Not sure what else it could be. A flare won't be in the same spot.

And no one says you can't shoot into the sun totally :p

Ok I'll pop the lense off and see if the speck is on the back of the lense (I did clean the front of course in trouble shooting). Pretty sure my camera has a cleaning function it performs (on the sensor?) every time it shuts off. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let ya know how it goes.

    Edit
Yep it does have an auto clean function. Must be a speck on the back of lense. Will find out tomorrow.

It looks like some ghosting to me? Id be curious to see some other shots and where the flare is in relation to the sun? Shorter wider lenses can produce less flaring(less elements) and more individual "ghost" like in the photo. Zooms typically produce a strung out flare in a diagonal line from the sun. Less expensive glass is usually more prone to flare do to the lack of coatings on the elements and their design. I would check for particles of some sort but am doubtful as i think they would stand out and be a obvious culprit?

It looks like lens flare. When you're shooting into the sun, are you using the hood? Do you see the flare when looking through the view finder? If you do, what happens if you use your hand to try and block the sun? You might need to move it around to have any effect-start at a place opposite the flare and on a plane just in front of the lens. Be sure your hand or whatever is outside the frame. ;)

Awesome automotive shots FearNothing. And awesome wideangle OneWheelDrive. Been looking at one of the 14mm f/2.8 lenses lately for my 6D. Want to pick something up before my astrophotography workshop in May.

Here's one of my favorites from an airshow back in October:

Ha, Canon stated that the new 5DS has the same Dynamic Range as the 5D3! So what does 50MP get you? It certainly wont get you low light performance!

I was hoping the DR would be a lot better.

I guess I'm also waiting to hear more about the ISO performance too (from 25600 back down to 6400-changes to the color sensor) too.

Anyone want to comment on the newly induced shutter lag?
