If there had been any contrast at all in the clouds it would have been good. I could pull some contrast out but not like the photo above. It was just a solid white cloud bank with little to no variation.

Yeah, I didn't shoot HDR yesterday. I've got mine bracketed at 3 so I probably should have but I was pretty stretched for time all day. Just wanted to get a few to play around with

    Welcome to data compression.

Flickr and smugmug is probably the better of the hosting sites. Flickr wins out to me since it's free with a yahoo email. You get 1tb of storage and unlimited user bandwidth unlike other sites like photo bucket who's data compression also sucks and the site is full of ads now and annoying.

Flickr has its pains. But it's by far your best option.

They also have integration wih facebook and instagram if you want to still share on those mediums. And Lightroom has a plugin for Flickr so you can export directly to Flickr so no need to export jpegs all over your computer which saves hard drive space which I love.

I'm partial to SmugMug but Flickr is a good option too. SmugMug offers a free trial (fully functional) for each of the three options they sell. Same sharing features and depending on your level of service, unlimited data storage. Full resolution can be uploaded and not displayed-which is nice if you sell prints since everything is printed from the original. SmugMug is also integrated with LR and offers great customization abilities.

Man, I wish we had a ladder. Here's my usual station at night. I'm typically on the engine/aid (cross-staffed).

Yeah, We are one of the busiest stations in the city. We have around 400K population and a little over 600 Line FF's. I've been on for 23 years so I get to retire in a little less than 5 years. I'll be 49. I love the job but I'm looking forward to it.

Awesome! Congrats and thank you for your service. I'm just starting out (just under 2 years career) and it's been an unbelievable experience so far. Most of the time, I'm looking around scratching my head and wondering how and why I get paid to do this. I feel very fortunate, and I hope it shows in my customer service day in and day out.

Yeah man. It's a good job. I figured up a few months ago that I've been on 35-40k runs since I've been on. I've never been assigned to a slow company in the city. I'm now the Captain on our HazMat unit and we cover the entire city and most of the central part of the state since we are the only dedicated HazMat unit in the state that is staffed full time. So we literally run everything.

Nice! That's the way to do it. 82 is our busiest house (65% of my department's calls). We're still a small community, about 45k population and 5k calls/year. But it's fun. Hoping to join the technical rescue team next year which would be some awesome training and experience.

I was on the Tactical Rescue when I was younger. The only certifications I keep now are all HazMat related and Swiftwater Tech. Oh... BTW... We make over 5K out of this station alone lol.

I'm jealous, would be fun! What's your schedule? We're on 48/96 but possibly moving to a four platoon schedule next year...

I was lucky and moved through the ranks fast. Engineer (driver) at 5 years (earliest we could test for driver) and 10 years to Captain. So I've been a Captain for 13yrs. Still keep my Paramedic license even though we only get EMT pay but I've got so much time invested in it I hate to give it up. So I help teach when needed. I've been a HazMat Tech since I came on the job. Now I'm the senior officer on the unit. I enjoy it but I've always enjoyed chemistry and science (weird I know) but it goes hand in hand. The main thing I like about this unit is we kind of play by our own rules. We have a lot of latitude the rest of the Dept doesn't have. I've never been very good at playing by the rules anyway so it fits me pretty well lol.
