actually you don't get every shot right...

Do you know how to read a histogram?

does that make you feel special? $20 says i can get a better over exposed shot and edited in LR to make it perfectly exposed than you can with you precious jpeg in camera editing. :D

and just because I shoot RAW doesn't mean i don't get it (the exposure) right in the camera. thats not what its about. Its about being in control of the photo. and not having some (little) in camera editing software do what it wants. its about enhancing your photos not correcting them. BUT you do have the lee-way of correcting them if for some reason something does go wrong.

You're telling me you get EVERY single shot right in the camera? because you just proved yourself wrong with the photo of the tree. It was under-exposed. AND shot in jpeg. so you don't have a lot of room to make the photo look well exposed. if any room at all. If it were shot in RAW you could bring all that data back to make the photo enjoyable to look at.

Dude, what im saying is , Im NOT going to shoot raw if im just shooting for fun. In-camera editing? I've never used that. I just shoot, connect the usb cable and transfer.

Most of these shots i shot in Jpeg and SOME look pretty exposed to me

Like i said before, I only shot RAW in speciial occasions.

you dont use the custom settings? i think i remember a photo of your dog on top of your motorcycle and you said it was set to "vivid"

i just don't understand why you wouldnt shoot raw? and your kind of contradicting yourself. you say you get it right in the camera, but you shoot raw when your photos count. if your so confident you get everything perfect in the camera why dont you shoot those special occasions in jpeg too?

EDIT: I just believe in RAW so strongly that to me it seems wasteful to shoot in jpeg. memory is so cheap nowadays, so that shouldnt be an issue, and if you really care about your shots you should have the drive to edit them to look even better, let it be from a shot of a vase in your house to the bride and groom at a wedding. so from my point of view there should be no reason/excuses why you WOULDNT shoot raw?

but if jpeg is so engraved into your mind, then more power to you! :)

yeah i tried it to see how it looked(to colorful), my cam is set to "SD" which is obviously standard.

I've alway shot in JPEG back then(YOU KNOW THAT), until i tried LR which kickass.

I dont see myself editing regular pictures to post such as these

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/132575-anyone-know-where-world-can-i-get-part.html

 would you? but its still exposed right

    I know what you mean.

I shoot raw in special occasions so i can pleased who ever im shooting. When i shoot JPEG Im dont really care in pleasing no one. That being said, yes RAW is better.

The background is detailed, the actual dark subject picture is not, correct?
