I do some video editing on the side for work. Just don't really grab enough gigs that buying one would justify. However if i could, i'd probably jump on one.

    QUESTION!!!!!

If he had a Hero 3 already what would you do either:

1.) Get a hero 4 to get more multiple shots at once

    OR

2.) Get a drone quad copter like a Phantom

Also what editing software is everyone using? I only use iMovie which is fine for what I am doing now, but I wanted to get a better editing software. I currently have a MacBook.

The phantom will open a can of worms for you lol. I sold it long ago and have been building my own now. But I am def. getting the GP4 but probably not until late this year or early next since my GP3 does what I need it to.

Yup.. I found one at a local hobby store for exacty that price with a gimbal. Nice one too. I remember when they well over $1000 dollars.

Personally I would get the drone if you have a 3+ silver or black. If you don't have either one of those then I might wait for the 4. The drones are sick and the 3+ silver or black (I've got both) are more than capable of doing most everything you need. The 3+black will record in 4k also I just don't ever use that setting.

As far as the software goes, I'm kind of in the same boat. The free software from GoPro is pretty good and does a decent job but I'm looking for something with more features.

I have jumped into Premiere Pro after using Final Cut for about 6 month. The change wasn't that hard, same thing just different buttons really. Ive used the gopro studio and its not bad at all.

I just bought a Mac desktop and love Final Cut Pro. Does all i need it to do plus no buffering in my imported video!

But for your question, i'd look into a Phantom over the Hero 4. No since in upgrading to a 4 if your editing software can't handle it to begin with.
The Hero 3 is more than good enough for now. Having a little better camera isn't going to upgrade your video's if you can't shoot/edit them correctly.

Ok so its no drone video or anything but I like plying with my GOPRO. I need to start learning how to create my own templates!

Thanks man! We're just getting started. Got 3 songs on iTunes right now that our local guy mixed. Its an alright mix but we're hoping to get a more professional studio sound in. We're on reverb nation, Facebook, etc. etc! Thanks for the feedback!

I picked up the 4 Black. Tried my first nightlapse this weekend but I think the shutter was way too long for the situation.

Looks awesome for nighttime. I'm debating on picking up the 4 as well just for the added night lapse. Did you have it on 30second exposure? Looks like you might have just speeded up the pictures a tad too fast! I like it though.

Check this one out. It says 2 second exposures with night lapse.
