I like to refer myself as a photographer, been photographing since i was little, started from little point of shooters to a Canon Rebel digital EOS which is what i still use, i have a 35-55mm and a 75-300mm. I mainly like to shoot scenery, My favorite thing to shoot is trains and airshows, i have always loved trains for some odd reason and now it's my job. Airshows are also fun to photograph, I have been published once so far into the Union Pacific RR calender.
So Who all are photographers in here? what is your genre? Whats your equiptment? Professional or Amateur? ever been published? and let see some of those shots!

I'm sure you've seen some of these in the outdoor photograph post, but i will post some different ones

I would like too consider myself a photographer, I don't make a living at it, would like too, but competition is pretty tough here. I am a Nikon guy, I have a D-70 & an FG 20 ( film ). My lenses are a 18-70mm 3.5-5.6, VR 70-200mm 2.8 constant, 50mm 1.8, 70-300mm 4.5-6.3. I have the SB-800 speedlight, monopod, tripod, both from Slick, and all sorts of supplies. I am looking at a new wide angle lens, but it depends if I go to a full frame camera, lots of money decides on a body change. I have done a few commercial jobs, I am the photographer at work for calendars and such, done some freelance work on a couple local rags. Your work looks great, and great subject matter. I have a real hard time being comfortable shooting people, so I am focusing on doing more of it. I have a great area to shoot in, just the time is sometimes tough. My best work is probably night work, I love long exposures, and how the light plays out. I have been in a couple of gallery's, surprised to get in considering the work I was hanging next to, amazing work in this town, but what do you expect, home of Kodak !

I'm uber-amateur. I run a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT with a 28-70mm and a 70-300mm lens set- .5 fish eye if i want to play a lil bit.

I don't really have anything shots for a portfolio...The pics of my truck are mine...I've got some of my motorcycle around here too. I want to get better at action shots and stills of cars/bikes/cool stuff like that.

When I get done painting I'll see what I can post up.

Thanks for the comments. concrete jedi same here, i have trouble with people as well, never got into it. I never got into night shots much, long exposures are hard for me to grasp, things can change so much within the time frame of the exposure that could mess it up. I know a guy that is GREAT with night shots

I don't actually have any friends that have pentax, so i couldnt tell you how good of a camera they are. I personally am a Canon Guy, i would recomend Canon Rebel XT or XTI for a starter. Nikon is also a great camera, D-40 is a good camera, it's a little more pricey though

I have read some reviews, and they are good cameras, with some nice options, but limited to a small amount of lenses available. I am a Nikon user and have put my equipment through hell and it has been nothing short of amazing. Also Nikon is a good company to deal with, I have had to send my body to the factory to get repaired ( my fault ) and to get updated and have been treated very fair, and fast. As long as the equipment is operational, it's the person behind the viewfinder that makes the shot. With that said: GO NIKON !

I took this today...I wish I'd had a better background tho:

This is from some traveling I did- Cartegena, Columbia...Looking over the ocean.

This was landing in Dry Tortugas National Park as my team and I were doing some training. And by training I mean...We bar-b-qued on the beach and did some snorkling.

I've got a few more squirreled away...I'll keep my eyes open for good ones.

I believe the Rebel XT is around $650-$800 depending what you get included. I am actually thinking of selling my old Rebel on ebay so i can get a new XTi

When shopping for camera's there are many scams out there. Camera manufacturers also won't honor the camera warranties if you don't purchase from a fully authorized reseller, which many of them are not.

B&H Photo is about the best "legit" place you are going to find out there.

I agree, you have to be very careful when you look on-line for a camera. There are lots of scam places that have prices that are too good to be true and when you contact them, they try to sell you upgrades and junk that should already come with the camera. If a price looks to good to be true, steer clear. Beach Camera is another place I shop. I have ordered things from them with no problem.

By the way, I have a Nikon D300 and just love it. I have the kit lens, 18-70 f3.5-4.5 and a Nikon 70-300 G lens (have to wait until my finances are better to get a better lens). I just bought a Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5. Haven't tried it out, but will soon.
