Took this picture while out camping this weekend. I think it applies to this week's challenge pretty well.finish-20_17b299e39a1df83353b216a9a528b11812fc89bb.jpg

However as Ben mentioned it was taken prior to challenge being post. As per the thread rules no archived photos are allowed.

Man, I'm headed to the Black Hills in about ten minutes. Won't have anything up until I get back . . . Good challenge and entries thus far.

    I'll be back.

Shot this on Monday of my cousin's daughter. Didn't have the challenge in mind but this'll have to be my entry since I'm leaving right meow.

Thankfully we got back before the challenge deadline.... It's a PITA to transfer from the D7100 to the phone and it doesn't do full-rez, so I wasn't able to select which (of the 500+ I took this week) to use....

Here's my submission for "sense of place". I took this shot of Kyes Peak yesterday on the Blanca Lake trail in the Cascades. Hiking and getting out into the wilderness restores my "sense of place" and puts me back in my place! Enjoy!

Guess most would consider this sense of place sky. But after launching probably thousands of Hornets over the years my sense of place is the Engine Room, and the catapult room calls down and says "Meow... Cat Drag!" You slam the main engine throttle shut to keep the boiler from being dragged off line then feather it back open so you don't lift safeties as the accumulator fills again.

A lot had to happen today for me to make this happen, but in the end it did. Because of work this morning I didn't make it there until after the show started so it was too late to get in, so I found a place on the river with a clear view above the airport. And had the best seat in the house. Some of my shots I couldn't get a single hornet to fit in the frame. Hard to pan and not get motion blur when they are going that fast and close however.

This little guy definitely has a sense of place. Caught him just after he jumped from some green ivy and is about to change to brown.

Bummed I couldn't get out and shoot at all this weekend. This is the first challenge I have missed since we started... :(

My entry: Sense of a foreign place :p
Drove through a very overgrown, weedy levee road on a ranger mule for my internship. Got out at the next stop and noticed about 50 of these young praying mantids crawling all over the front of the ranger!
Cropped and rotated this slightly so the horizon was level.
