I agree with both statements. At first I thought it was because there are so many old windmills around here and the areas of the Dakotas that I hunt, most broken. But the more I looked at it there is something about that shot that sets it off, I like the gradient from the sky to the earth.

Wish I was in the Dakotas for this challenge lots of old abandoned homesteads and farms, sad to say.

Dang. I was just out on Montezuma Slough, in the Sacramento Delta, and there were lots of old abandoned shanties.

Got up in the mid 40's again today so the snow is gone. I wanted it for the abandoned effect of this place, but will I take the warmth in December. This has been abandoned for the 10 or so years that I have known about it. Problem this time of year is everything is grey so hard to do a dramatic picture, this was at sunset but it is in a ravine on the Mn. Wi. Iowa border.

One of the original settlers homesteads in this location I'm guessing from the hand hewed axe marks and central chimney which is falling apart. Norwegians don't let their places run down and someone keep this place going for a long time. But the ball got dropped at some point in the last decade or two. They did upgrade to black oil at some point. The upper half is newer as it is whitewashed with cut planks and has a glass window instead of wood shutters. And shingles instead of shakes.

Tried again today, but failed to find the spot I was looking for before it got dark. Crap.

Nice shots guys. I know I'm to late for the B&W challenge but, I caught this one today. Pretty much B&W except a little piece of blue sky.

Looks like Cold Iron has the only entry this week. I couldn't get the shot I wanted last night but got a decent shot this morning. Had to take if from my backyard as I haven't figured how to get to the spot. Fog rolling into the canyon. Both taken fully auto. No time. Had to leave.

I couldn't get to the one spot I knew of. Would've had to drop my gun and drive over into Little Russia. (New jersey)

Was really hoping, kind of expecting, more entries this week. Especially one with a car or truck in the woods and a tree growing through the hood type of thing but I couldn't find one here. Great challenge.

Yep that would be a fate worse than death, good excuse you did the right thing LOL! And good luck, with Pa. deer season being open now I assume your deer hunting.

    PM on its way.

Oh it is. Even now that I carry my Shield instead of my glock. It would still be a nightmare.

I only made it out one day so far. Its a little rough that I only have off Sunday Monday. Can't hunt Sundays and Monday's are usually when I'm running around getting errands done.

I had a few places in mind this week and never got a chance to go. :(

Quite a few of them around here too. Maybe next week.

    New Challenge: Focal length

Here's how this works. Pick a Focal length like a prime if you have one say 50mm and just use that focal length to get a photo of whatever you want. If you only have a zoom then set it at it's minimum and take one from that. If you need to zoom then use your feet.

Same rules apply as usual. If you break them we ship you to Ben and he will make you walk the plank. One photo per customer.

Due by midnight this Sunday of your local time zone.

Get to work and give Mike some photo's this week to pick a winner.

Well, I've said that before, so I won't say it again. All I'm saying is no matter what photo I happen to take this week will be eligible.

Also, great one for the phone photographers out there.

    Primes for the win! :D
