Does any one have any experioence or knowledge on any of the following?
I am going on a trip and am contemplating getting a cheap little pocket or small camcorder to film the scenery. I am looking to spend around $200 or less. If you have any other suggestions feel free to commment.

Thanks Silver. I was reading some reviews via Google Products and they seem to be all over the place, from one extreme to the next. One review said the battery life was short while two reviews down, it was praised for it's battery life.

I will definitely add it to the list.

I have the flip and its very easy to use. Mine has an hour capacity though. After that, they need to be tranferred to a computer.
I could rent it to you....lol

    yep, an hour
I have yet to fill it...been close but always had a laptop or computer nearby.

Flip makes others with more capacity. I believe they have one with a removable drive. If I had access to my flip channel I'd send you a link of the videos.

(here comes the best buy in me)

    The flips....(Flip Slide)

Pros-.... are great. Perfect for just having in your pocket and ready to take a video always. 720p HD video theyre all 8gb internal memory except for the new Flip Slide. those are 16gb internal flash memory.

Cons- the only downside to the older flips is you cant upgrade the memory i.e. SD card.

    check out the Kodak Zx3

Pros- Super cool camera. 1080p HD Video. Waterproof up to 10 feet. SD card memory. (which is a plus over the flips.) also within budget. i have sold TONS of these at best buy. not one negative complaint yet. they are cool.

cons-im not sure if you can zoom or not. but if you can zoom, no cons yet IMO

    the Kodak Zi8

Pros- This is pretty much the same exact camera as the Kodak Zx3. EXCEPT not waterproof. and it has its own editing software aswell. you also get a bigger screen and you CAN zoom with it.
agin a very great camera. (also within budget)

i would stay away from any other handheld though.

    Camcorders-

they are gonna run a little more. But i would check out the sony camcorders. i love those. they are very small and compact. all touchscreen. have the quickest autofocus. i am just a big fan of the sony camcorders.

let me know if you need anything else :)

Thanks Jake. I've been leaning towards the Zi8 or just a flat out Sony handheld. I have one at work and am familiar with it. Great little camcorder.

Now with the Kodak's, can you take regular pictures too? I have read that the don't have a flash or handle low-level light conditions.

we also offer our Geek Squad Black Tie Protection Plan for these cameras... it covers any accidental damage to the cameras. you can choose between two different plans. one for two years or four years. Basically what its gonna cover is any accidental damage for example, if you drop it and crack the screen, or break the lens or anything internally stops working. if you run it over and it completley smashes, bring back most of the pieces and its completley covered. It also covers if you spill any kind of liquid on it... the only two things it does not cover is lost/stolen or completley submerged in water.

so you can bring it back and if it cant be fixed its replaced no questions asked.

    WHew!

The benefit the flip has over the others is.....people don't know it's a video camera. They have no idea it's on and they usually ignore it until they watch themselves on the screen.

    I have a kodak playsport (Zx3)

Its awesome. You can get a VERY good deal right now on Amazon with an 8 gig card for 120$ i think.

Kodak store had 30% off last week as well. Be sure to get an 8 gig at least class 4 card.

Its the same as the Zi8 except for macro, plus this one is waterproof and rugged.

My 18 month son took it off my wrist and threw it off the upper level of Mountaineer Field and it hit the chairs down below and I went and got it. Has a few scratches, but it still works.

I purchased the Zi8 last night. I looked at the playsport, I just wasn't feeling it. Picked up an 8 GB SD for $20, a little case for $14, and the cam itself for $169. I tried it out this morning. I am also uploading the test vids to youtube as I type. I will post them up.
