    i am lookin to buy a new camera in the near future and was lookin at the .
    EOS Rebel XS 18-55IS Kit + EF 75-300mm III and or the nikon d3000 or d5000. any help would be great on a decision thanks guys

    +1. All things being equal, play with both brands as both have very different layouts. Pick the brand you feel most comfortable with, then what you want to do with it will decide which model from that brand you should go with.

    I personally cannot stand Canon's menu system on their DSLRs, but that is just my opinion. Go play with them yourself!

    I had the D3000 and returned it for the D5000. Its an awesome camera. It shoots very very nice pics at ISO 1600 and above. So you get very clear low light shots. Much better than the D3000. Plus you get movie mode and a swivel screen.
