Hey all. Like the title says, I really hoped to never have to post a new topic here but here it goes. My girlfriends sister is not doing well. It started about a month ago. She is a type 1 diabetic. She went to the ER for feeling very ill. They found a kidney infection and got her moved to the ICU immediately. While in the ICU they also discovered a gall bladder infection. Her numbers started looking better and better, then about a week ago, crashed. They realized that from being in a bed every day that her lungs were collapsing. Well they finally decided to send her home last night because she was so depressed and sick from being in the hospital for a month that they thought she would do better being at home. Well she crashed again really bad last night. She was rushed to the ER at UCSF. Then think that the infection has moved to her heart and it attacking it. She was just transferred by ambulance to CPMC to have tests run all day today. Please keep her in your thoughts...

Prayers are with her, try to stay positive. Her seeing you optimistic could lift her spirits, and her positive attitude means alot in these situations.

We are trying. We have to head down that way later today and are going to stop on the way back and see her as long as she is out of all of her tests.

Awesome, yea I've spent some time in a hospital before. Nothing, and I do mean nothing makes you more happier then seeing people who actually care enough to come visit you, makes your whole day better. Good luck man

Ya it just makes everything worse. It just sucks that she was in the ICU in Novato for a month and they couldn't diagnose it. And the only thing the doctor had to say was 'I didn't think to test for that.'

Ya especially because she is only 24! One would think being so young and having so much life ahead of her, they would want to test for EVERYTHING possible.

Yea, your education doesn't mean very much in the real world, I know enough engineers to know that some people just shouldn't have the job that they do.
