    getting there....
    well....on top of alzheimer's completely overcoming my grandpaw....or Pop Pop as we call him.......he had a small stroke and today, hospice came out and said that we should go ahead and call them in full time until he passes. he'll be 87 in March.......st. patty's day actually. to be honest......i dont know how he has made it this long. my grandma died back in 06.........and we all thought he'd pass, but i guess alzheimers didnt let him remember anything so it wasnt on his mind. he fell couple weeks ago and separated his shoulder.....my mom has been taking care of him since my grandma died.

    im gonnna miss the hell outta him when he's gone..............but i miss him now cause he isnt who he used to be.

    It's only human to not want to let go of a loved one.

    But as you said he is not himself and it sounds like he may be suffering a little.

    When his time comes, know that he will be at peace and you will see him again.

    You'll always have him in your heart, and those fond memories will grow stronger as the pain from his passing subsides.

    I am sure he thinks the world of you, too :)

    I'm so sorry brother. This choked me up cause I remember when my gramps had his stroke, it was like he was gone before he was gone. Hurts so bad and I feel your pain brother. In my thoughts and prayers. You got my number, anytime.

    Sorry to hear Will. I am going through this now with my Grandmother. She is 93 and dont remember who I am. Its, funny, couple days later she will tell my mom I was there to visit.

    Going through it right now with my Mom, she's 75 and in great health, but batshit crazy. Have had to watch her fight this for five years. But now it's over we can't take care of her at home any longer. My Dad found her passed out in the back yard the middle of December, it was 19 degrees that night, she got frostbite on all her toes. Trying to find a home right now, what else sucks is the state will take EVERYTHING my Dad has worked his whole life for. That shit just ain't right.

    went and saw him just a bit ago..........i dont think it will be long at all now. i hate seeing him in that shape. no one should have to suffer that way.
