Glad she's okay. I got chills from reading it thinking that she was killed. Life works in mysterious ways...

I've never heard of car @ 35mph vs person ending in anything with a positive outcome. There has to be a damn good reason why she's still here... Make it count;)

Yeah, I'll admit I was a mess when I first got there, all I saw was the Jetta from a distance and I felt pretty numb after seeing that.

I dont understand how someone could run another person over unless they are paying absolutely no attention

or the person on the bike isn't paying attention. It goes both ways.

Not saying she was at fault here, but it is possible that one or both parties wasn't completely paying attention.

This too. The road I live on parallels the bike trail and crosses it 3 times. People run the stop signs all the time. Lucky them, I havent come through at 45 mph and knock one of em out. I will admit that bikers piss me off especially when they are riding on the road when the bike trail is literally less than 30 feet away

    I know "Share the Road....."

Edit: heres the link to see the trail and my road

The whole situation regarding who is at fault is fuzzy right now.

My girlfriend claims she had the right of way (in the crosswalk with a green walking man). And has a couple witnesses stating the same.

The driver claims he had a green light and has witnesses saying the same. Police are looking for surveillance tapes in the area to confirm either or.

Maybe a glitch in the traffic lights?

    That's what I was thinking.

It's really goofy. What the police officer told me yesterday didn't add up for me either.

He was trying to tell me that eastbound traffic had a red and westbound traffic had a green. And that is how the intersection always functions.

But I drive through this intersection 10-12 times a week (to and from work) and I have never seen it function that way. I asked him how he knew it functioned in that manner and he told me to go over there and watch it.

So I spent 45 minutes today watching this intersection, trying to see what he was talking about. And not once did I see a differentiation between eastbound and westbound traffic. They both turn green at the same time.

I even tried different situations, walking to each corner and pressing the walk button to try and find a way to get it to happen, no luck.

My girlfriend just wants all the bills paid for in the end, whether his insurance covers it or her medical insurance covers the whole deal, she's not interested in pursuing this for any monetary benefits.

What does worry me is if this guy tries to blame it on her, and has the officer on his side. I am writing up all my notes on this whole ordeal and gathering as much information as possible.

Better to be prepared right? :(

I thought it would still be put on him since he hit her kind of like a rear end car crash.

Question: Did he hit her from the rear or head-on?
