So, I just learned that my step daughters father was killed last night... I have no idea how to help her. I am doing my best to be there for her as much as I can. I just don't know what else I can do to help comfort her...

Mainly just listen to whatever she says. Don't try and rationalize just be there. How old is she?

Same thing happened to my cousin. Your stuck in a bad situation, but the best you can do is be there for her, mabey keep her out of school and do some activities tomorrow and during the weekend to take her mind off it. Just give her something to look forward to in the soon future.

One of the things I've learned is to not be the "fixer" and listen. Her momma will probably need you too. Praying for your family.

    .
Be gentle, be a good listener, remember age appropriate answers, offer to go to parks, walks, whatever.

There's gonna be silence and there's gonna be tears, be patient with both.
