    Just a few
So this past Thursday my wife had her first ultra sound for our baby at 20 weeks. Well we were very excited as we were going to find out if it was a boy or girl. Well we found out it was a little boy but they also told us that he has Anencephaly which is when the head and brain don't fully develop...the baby is about 4 weeks behind the size he should be and only measuring in at 16 weeks for the body and 14 weeks for the head. We were told if we carry to term (if theres not a miscarriage) that the baby might be born as a stillborn or If he is still kicking and alive when he's born he will only have a few minutes, hours or a day at the most to live. I'm asking y'all for prayers and support as this is very hard to accept and hard to understand why it's happening to us. Please keep my wife and son in your prayers. Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear this news. It saddens me but makes me wonder what God is trying to tell & teach you both. My pastor recently said that others to try encourage people by saying that God won't give you more than what you can handle. He says just the reverse. He gives us more that what we can handle in hopes that we turn to Him for guidance & support. He has his hand on all three of you. Purpose unknown, but remember to be strong for Mom. This will challenge you all. My thoughts with you. Take care brother.

Prayers for you and your wife! I can't imagine being in that situation, but I will hope and pray for the best outcome for your family.

So sorry to hear this, that is a tough message to have to hear. Will the baby be in pain if it does make it to term? Would it be more humane to terminate early? I don't know, and I'm sure you have thought about these things. Good luck with everything.

Thanks for the prayers and support y'all!

Well we have talked to a specialist and the only part of the brain the baby has is the part that knows how to breathe. So pretty much they said the baby will be a vegetable and he won't be able to see or hear us and not feel any pain. And an abortion is not an option for us at this point. God has blessed us with this little boy and we will cherish the time spent with him.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
I remember that ultrasound during the 2nd pregnancy when we found out if we would have a boy or a girl, all the checks for defects, all the blood work, and all that. We were fortunate that our little girl was OK then and was born healthy and strong.

But I also remember the apprehension and then the sadness during the first pregnancy when we found out about 10 weeks in, during a routine ultrasound, that the fetus had no heartbeat. My wife and I sat there in a private room, she cried, I just got lost in my thoughts.

No one ever knows why these things happen, not even the doctors. You can blame God, you can blame genetics, you can blame chance or you can just blame rotten luck. Regardless of what you and your wife decide, remember that *you* will be the rock for your wife. She is carrying this child, she is going to feel like all of this is her fault, or is on her shoulders, or somehow she is the one at fault (common for women). So YOU will be what carries her through this, just as I did for my wife so many years ago. If this is a test, it's a test of your strength and love for her.

Having never faced this situation, I cannot begin to imagine the emotions you two must endure. I can only pray that you two be strong for each other and your son. You have my prayers.
