He went back today. It's for sure skin cancer. He's goin in January (unless we can get him in somewhere sooner...the only ones that can do it only have one more day here this month, and they have a waiting list) to have it cut out. From what I was told over the phone, might have misunderstood, while he's still there, they'll take it and test it to make sure they got it all, if so, they'll send him across the hall to get sewn up. If not, they'll take him back in and cut some more...

If that doesn't sound right, it's probably not. My mom was telling me what was happening on the phone while I was at work, and of course she was kinda shaken up.

    Thanks, everyone.

Yea, he's 49, so it's not like he's old. But, this is supposed to be pretty treatable.

Doesn't sound like Melanoma man from your initial description, that's the one that kills and is the one to be very scared of. Unless its a Mohs surgery, the way it typically works is a full excisional biopsy typically done in office or OR. If in hospital, they can send it for Frozen pathology sectioning of the margins to verify no cancer cells are in the skin margins before they close the incision and leave the OR, thus avoiding the need to come back to get the rest of it. The scabby cancers are typically squamous. Squamous skin cancers don't typically spread to deep tissue/ lymph nodes although it can happen. He is clearly in my thoughts and prayers still. Keep us posted.

Yea, I think she said they're gonna test the margins.

Hopefully we can find somehwere close to get him in before January. If not, gotta wait another month, which sucks.

Found someone 15 minutes away to do the surgery. They're doing it Wednesday morning instead of waiting until January.

Yea, sooner is definitely better. If he goes down there, after they cut it out, they said they'll have to send it off and it'll still take 2 weeks to see if they got it all. So, if they didn't, he'll have to go back again, instead of having it all done at once here in town. But, everyone says the doctor that does it in town here is a "butcher", kinda messes people up when he cuts on em, and the doctors at the other place are better.
