My siamese cat had the same issue and yes, it is a fairly common birth defect. It really isn't too difficult to repair. Any decent vet can do it. I work on the weekends for Dr. Thompson (local vet) and occassionally assist in sx. Try not to worry yourself too much. Good luck and GOD bless.

Hi all-we got him home yesterday afternoon-boy is he talking up a storm! He never vocalized so much-he spent 2 hrs just going back and forth through the house as if to say "was that all a dream?" He went to his fav spot in the center patio and just talked. Rosie said "are you ok Dompa?" "ROWWROWWRR!!! BRRROWWWRRR!"
He was psycotic:D He finally crapped out and went to sleep in his bed for the rest of the day. Thank you all again for your caring thoughts and prayers! They work:)
