ive been meaning to post this for awhile but havent, finally have the time to. so my step-dad's father, "pap", who has been more of a grandparent to me than my biological ones, finally got the bad news...

he was diagnosed with penis cancer last year and had part of his manhood removed. in the past year he's lost a lot of wait but never thought much about it. well he got the flu shot a few weeks ago and got sick a few days later. they put him in the hospital and ran some tests. they found 9 tumors in his stomach so they wanted to biopsy and remove them. when they got in there 2 were the size of tennis balls and were cancerous. the cancer had also spread to his lymphnodes and is growing around his arterys like moss on a tree as the doctor put it.

they removed the tumors and 60% of his stomach. he's been diagnoses with advanced stage stomach cancer. they said they can try chemo to try and slow the spread of the cancer but ultimately "he'll be a lucky man if he makes it to christmas" is what the doctor said.

i've never been hunting but im going with him next week since it will be his last. my step-dad is very tore up about it and so is the whole family. he's been the backbone of family gatherings and all that.

please pray for him and the family, and hope we can spend as much time with him as we can and that he will be able to share one last christmas and maybe even a new year with us.

So sorry to hear the news. he can last until the new year. I know there is nothing I can say that will make this better. Wish there was. Spend as much time as you can with him. Make the most of these last days with him.

Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

wow man, prayers definately sent up. I know what your going throu. My grandmother had a very low percentage of lukemia years back..She lived fine with it for I'd say probably 4 or 5 years before she finally passed at 94. One day, she woke up and felt like crap..My parents took her to the hospital and they ran some tests and said cancer..Bad cancer...I think she lived another 2 weeks with Hospice care:(

Cancer is very painful when it comes to the end,and I hope he's not in any kind of pain at least.

Very sorry to hear Brett. I will add him and your family to my daily prayers. Brett, sounds like a good time for you to step up and take over the roll as the rock of the family. Be strong, have a good time with him while you can. May be some times of him lashing out, let him, listen to him and be there for him. Treasure this time. Good luck, to both of you.
