My forum namesake, Wilson, died suddenly on Wednesday night. He was walking across the living room, collapsed, and died. No warning, nothing. He was even at the vet Monday for his yearly visit and had bloodwork done due to a little weight loss (attributed to his sister Rosie's death only 2 months ago) and they found nothing. The vet thinks it may have been a brain aneurism; nothing I could've done. I got Wilson when he was 8 weeks old and he was 10 when he died.

Rosie was just as great a dog, the sweetest you could ever meet. I adopted her from the humane society at about 6 months of age. I was really looking for a small dog for my wife but, as I always tell people, Rosie licked my hand and that was that. She came home that day. She died peacefully after a short battle with cancer at age 7 in February.

Man, I miss them more than I can say.

Really sorry to hear this, I have a 12yr old lab who won't be with me much longer. He's been my pal since he was 8 weeks ... I feel ya.

    Truly sorry Eric.

2012-02-04135257_788137a956164294bb3eeaaa4e85b11a73bbda02.jpg Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

It's always tough losing one of our furry friends. We had to put our Yellow Lab named Sitka down last year abround this time; haven't got another dog yet. She was 13 and went from healthy to couldn't get up and walk in what seems only a couple of days. Remember all the good times you had with Rosie and Wilson as I'm sure they were happy with the times they were with you.

Sorry to hear. I don't have a dog, it's just not the right time or situation in my life for me to take care of one. I had dogs growing up, and I know the pain of losing a good friend.

Rosie looks to be a Golden Retriever, yes? My parents just recently lost a Golden to Lymphoma cancer. She was only five when diagnosed. We now know that this is a common thing with Goldens. Very sad situation, they are such great dogs. When Mollie died, it hurt me bad, and she wasn't even MY dog.

Stay strong and think of all the good memories of the time you had together.

I'm sorry for your loss. They can never be replaced.
When my last cat (he was more like a dog than cat) passed a few years ago after 16 years, it was a reminder for me of our mortality. Live life with meaning each day.

He was a neighborhood character. Passer's by still ask "where's Malcom?" It was a testament to his influence on others, and i'm sure Wilson's passing will be noted by many.

    Namaste.

Man, I feel ya. My dad "had" to put down one of my dogs because of some disease that he had and the vet said that it would be A LOT of blood work to figure everything out and A LOT of money for medicine...... My dog (Silver) started to show signs of what he was getting. It turns out that it was the fleas that was sucking the life out of them.... LITERALLY. Come to know, after they put him down, that they didn't have them up to date on shots.... I didn't know this and if I did, I would have had them taken care of. I got mine from him and at my house. Took her the next day to get her up to date on shots. I wish that I would have known that all it was going to take is a flea pill, and one that kills them in 30 minutes...
