What is a good GPS?

Im looking for a good GPS thats not going to break the bank to bad.
Any suggestions?

It doesn't move a centimeter on the dash. Works much better than the stupid suction cup.

 

I like my Garmin set up..265WT. Wide screen and radio traffic updates. Was like 300. And they scale up and down from there depending on what you want and how much you wanna pay.
I've tried a TomTom too and I didn't like the interface as much...

 

x2.... I've used 3 different Garmins and would recommend one to anybody. Just make sure you look at reviews from a couple different sites before you buy one. The 255 is one of the good ones though. I have a 1390t now because I like the free lifetime traffic. But you have to put up with Ads on it occasionally.

 

i think this is the one im getting. I have looked and it seems the best and is recommended at the store. The one the guy below u said he has is the same as this one just with the traffic, bluetooth and a cable which i have already.

 

Garmin is the way to go. There are websites where you can hack them and stuff which is kinda fun if you are into that. My icon is an actual tacoma.

You can also add speed traps and red light camera alerts. I even put topo's on mine.

I am using the 255wt.

I bought my 1st GPS last year. Oregon 300 at REI for $250. I love it! There was a big learning curve (still is), Garmin has OUTSTANDING customer service & phone support.

The Oregon 300 is great for hiking, off-roading, boating, etc... It does a good job with the road atlas software.

 

Like Brunes, the Garmin 265WT. It includes Traffic for life, (no subscription), awesome bluetooth and speakerphone, SD Card reader, Wide Screen touch screen and for the money, $145.00 at costco, you can't beat it at three times the price. It outperforms my Lexus' navi and my company's Tom Tom

im using the Garmin 500... works great for street and offroad use...

i like using Garmin's Basecamp program to load the desert race maps into it...

and its cool having an offroad truck as the icon...

 

I was given a TomTom GO720 for Christmas a couple years back. It was supposed to be top of the line back then, but it didn't perform up to my buddy's low end Garmin at the time, stick with the Garmins they make nice units. Did I just say unit? Joke Time~!

I love my Garmin Nuvi 1350T my better half got me for Christmas last year. I think all new Nuvi's come with a one-time map update if you register it online within 30 days after you first start it up.
They also offer software updates on the website for free. My wife also got me the lifetime map update subscription for another $120. I know that's a lot, but to me that's worth it. I'll buy that for every future Navi I will buy. I'm an update junkie.

I love the wide-screen but it's not too big. It came with the windshield mount which I use and love. The traffic info is nice, and depending on where you life and where you'll go you will love the lane-assist. It will tell you miles ahead in which lane you need to be to make a particular exit. It's a nice feature you can use to avoid last-minute lane changes during rush hour (Notice it's depicted in the image below)

I have a Garmin Nuvi 1350T as well. You kinda have to get the lifetime map update as well though, which is an extra hundred and change. Garmin is about the only one I've actually used though, except the poor one on a friends iPhone.

I've really never been one of those that thought they'd find any real use from a GPS and never really had issues finding places, but I have to admit that after using the GPS, I'm hooked and use it about everywhere I go.

 

Go to the Garmin website and check out the lifetime map deal they have going for new nuvi purchases...you get like 4 maps a year for the life of the unit.

 

^^^ I noticed that, for $20 more you will also get lifetime European maps. Damn, if only I knew that I would have gotten that one! (I have family over there)

 

I spent about $100 on my wife's Tom Tom and it does everything that my $350 does. Mine bit the dust so I spent $50 on a Navigon GPS iPhone app. Works well especially for someone that does not need one all the time.
