shrockworks sliders

I have Shrockworks sliders and i gotta say they're awesome! Great powder coating job and they hold up to lots of abuse. But like others have said, its quite a long wait. I was quoted 8 weeks and it took 12 weeks to get them. Customer service is questionable x2

Pumped that my Shrockworks sliders are coming in next week, anyone got some recommended drill bits? Amazon Prime availability would be preferred!

My Shrockworks sliders are delivering tomorrow. Going to bolt them on tomorrow night, then drill the final holes, wash the truck, and post some pics this weekend.

(I ordered a center punch, 1/8" bit, and 1/8" to 1/2" step bit, should get the job done.)

 

The UPS man left a 8ft x 2ft 150lb box at the front door step last night, and of course I wasn't patient enough to wait until this weekend (much less daylight) to install them. The packaging was excellent, I am really impressed with Shrockworks, especially for all the bad rap they get on TW. The build quality on the sliders is excellent, gorgeous welds and immaculate powder coating. They bolted up great, I only put in the upper bolts last night to get them on the truck, my center punch and drill bits should be coming in today to finish off the remaining bolts...

A lot of users have asked how far they stick out from the cab with the door open, or will they function as a good stepping point. As you can see here you have about 80mm or a little over 3" to use as a step, should work fine for myself or my wife. They're definitely slick in the morning condensation though, so I'm considering putting some 3M grip tape on them, I just don't want it to peel and look ratty a year or two down the road.



However I do need some help from those who have these sliders:

I found the instructions a little unclear on which bolts/washers/weld-nut plates go where.

Can anyone shed some light on where the (4) weld-nut plates go? It seems (2) of them go on the upper front leg mounting holes, R&L sides, inside the frame, as it's difficult to reach the closed off portion where the front cross-member is welded to the frame rails.

I think I understood the instructions correctly by putting the (2) 1&1/2" longer bolts through the upper holes on the rear slider legs, as the frame is thicker in that area, is this where you use the thinner bigger washer on the inside of the frame?

Also the smooth carriage bolts go where? and the thin, bigger washers go where?

And what about the other (2) weld-nut plates?

 

IIRC there's really just one way they can bolt on since the ones in the back will not fit the welded nut on plate in there.

 

I talked to Shrockworks and I think I figured this out. I put all (4) of the weld-nut plates on the front legs, top and bottom holes. I used the (2) 1&1/2" bolts and (2) wider washers on the upper holes of rear legs. Finally, I put the (4) carriage bolts on the lower holes on the middle and rear legs. The lower holes on the front legs don't require a carriage type bolt as they are so close to a cross-member that hangs lower, they wouldn't encounter/snag on the trail. Hope this is helpful for anyone installing these sliders.

Drilling the holes was a miserable experience for me, even with the proper tools. Ended up breaking 3 Ti 1/8" bits, the step bit was a life saver though. Topped everything off with a trip to the eye Dr. to have a metal shaving removed from my eyeball (despite having eye protection on the entire install). Anyway, I was able to finish up everything this weekend.

Did anyone who has Shrockworks or similar bolt-on sliders do any rust prep on the holes you drilled? I did not. I don't live in a corrosion prone area, should I be worried? I will probably pull a bolt out in a few months and see how its looking.

 

I'm so ready for my sliders to come in!

How long was your wait on delivery?

And to answer your question, I am going to try and rustproof my drilled holes. I seems like a good idea. I assume any good paint will work, although I might see if my father in-law has any leftover POR-15 (even better than paint)

 

Exactly 1 month to the day from when I submitted my order.

I PM'ed several members with bolt on sliders, and the majority didn't rust prep the holes. Some have checked on the holes periodically and have said they haven't witnessed any rust yet. However all that varies by where you're located, etc. Doing it again, I'd brush something on them. But having mine on already I'm not going to take them off to treat the holes.

 

A few years back I ordered a rear bumper for my Xterra from Shrockorks. They shipped it when they said they would it was like a 6 week lead time. 2 weeks after I got it on the car I got rear ended by a Cellica and it slightly dented the bumper(totaled the Cellica, 1" Recovery point all the way through his valve cover) Shrockorks offered if I paid the overtime ($50) they would rush it out and it was 2 weeks then. The quality and welds were amazing on both and they were super easy to deal with. Figured I would share my experience.

 

Placed an order on March 18th, and inquired on an ETA today (4/21). They say they are back up to a 10-12 week lead time.

Hi ; the Shrocks look great; about to order for my 2015 access cab ; just wondering if they stick out farther than any part of door , to add door dig protection?

 

Just ordered my Access Cab sliders 3 tube. Let the wait begin!

 

I ordered mine this year in March and was expecting a long wait, but got them in about a month, well ahead of schedule and that includes shipping to Cali.

 

Anybody have a good serious use review on them? I like what they are built out of, just curious. Seen the 4x Innovations test vid but that is their products.

 

I beat the shit out of my shrockworks slider. So impressed I bought them for my 4Runner. Best powder coat I’ve ever seen.
