I went to the dealership today and enquired about an auto ignition/remote start system for my 2010 Taco. Yeah..I know its not needed but I had one on my last vehicle and it was pretty sweet to have the option of cooling off your vehicle before you get into it. Spoiled? YES! It gets 200+ degrees in Phx!
I was advised that unfortunately there is not a Tacoma dealer or factory install avaliable for my truck and that I would have to get an aftermarket install.
I found it somewhat humorous that the justification was as followes:
The dealer offered it for the "car models" but not for the "truck models".
My response: Why would you offer it for cars only sir?
Dealer: Because the truck has a manual transmission model and this is a safety concern if the vehicle is in gear and remote started.
My Response: My truck is not a manual, it is an automatic.
My response: Do you not make cars in manual transmission?
Dealer: No sir, we have manual transmission cars and automatic cars and install the remote starts on the automatics.
My Response: So what do I need to do to get a factory/dealer installed auto start for my truck to avoid negating my warranty for my ignition?
Dealer Response: There is nothing the dealer can do for you sir, you will have to take it to an aftermarket installer.
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
