Hood W/ No Insulation

My Taco comes with no hood insulation at all. I'm curious if there is any benefit to the truck if I stick a few pieces of Dynamat under the hood? Thanks in advance, guys.

For what reason are you wanting this? is the engine making too much noise for you? do you have a rattle?

Some newer car's now days have those hood mats.
They claim they are used for fire safety, they fall and act as a blanket to put out any potential engine fires, ha

I was thinking that a hood mat underneath hood would protect the engine/electrical component/wires/hoses from melting during the scorching summer heat. I guess not huhh?

Yes, they are excellent and surprisingly inexpensive. Several Guys have them on their Buick GN's and are very happy (GN owners are the fussiest) I'm thinking maybe modify the liner to house led lights for nighttime engine service.

You'd be fussy too if you had spent that much on a Regal.

there are severel benifits to having the hood mat.

For one, it was mainly invented in the 80's(ish) to help surpess eng. fires, not put it out like previosly stated. Working in EMS/FIRE i see cars catch fire quight often and I can honestly say they do help surpress it so the occupants can get out and not be imposed by flames. It also gives us Fire people time to come put it out before it gets out of control. This is probably the most imprtant factor to this day.

second is as stated befor. helps reduce road noise.

Lastly, some auto instrance companies actuly find out which vehicles come with them and which ones dont to help the calculate their rates. A friend found that out when his belt snaped and put a dent in the hood. His insurance company told him that they hear of that all the time and they charge more for that particular vehicle because of it. Which can also come back to the fire surpesser thing. it can help cause less damage.

So all in all, those hood pads are a great investment in my opinion. Of course i could be talking out me azz too.
