rbenner89,
I know that you are supposed to remove the accessory rail on the back of the bed to install the Roll-X cover. The problem is that I have to keep that rail installed (I have bed lights rigged underneath it). In your opinion is there any way to leave the rail installed and still install the Roll-X? Maybe with some modifications to either the Roll-X rails or to the acc rail in the back of the bed? Also how far back from the window does it extend when it is rolled up? 10"-12"?

Hey Rustysix-
1- i would estimate that when rolled up it extends about 8-10 inches.
2- i don't think u can install it with the posterior rail. I have bed lights in my truck also and i stuck my Led strip along the back just above the ridges of the bed liner and it works great. check out the pic when the rollx is down flat

i also included a pic of it rolled up so you can estimate the roll depth.

hope that helps

Has anyone else had any slight fitment issues with the roll-x? It seems like when you install the rails all the way back in the rail, the spring mounted latch gets stuck, and when you move them forward I cant close the tailgate all the way.

I have one now for 4 months. Yes the fitment issue is common, I had to adjust and move it forward and back countless times to get that perfect fit where it covered the tailgate and was still over the rear of the bed rail. Yes you can still run the rear bed rail, you might have to take it off first and install the cover then reinstall it afterwards. Customer service front them is pretty poor in my case. I called for two reasons, the fitment issue and I had one of the straps that hold the cover rolled open break the first time I used it. I emailed with no response then called and they said they never received it and there was nothing they can do, wow thanks BakFlip Roll-X. Other than that, with a little extra work it turned out nice and works well.

Before I lock the end in I "flap it like a blanket" to align the tracks and flatten them out.

Tie down solutions

Does anyone have any tie down solutions with their Roll-X? I know BAK sells a set of 4 for $50, any other solutions. I was thinking about getting the Dodge Cargo D-rings from from the "Installed D-Rings Mod" and bolting them in with the BAK side rail bolts. Anyone done anything like this?

Is the Roll-X easy to remove if I need the full bed space? The flip covers seem quick to remove but I haven't read anything about this one.

It's not too hard to remove. There are 2 bolts on either side and the top comes right off. I wouldn't want to be taking it on and off all the time though, it takes a bit of time to reinstall (getting it realigned and adjusted so that it seals front and back). When rolled it has a diameter of about 9" for the 5' cover 6' is probably closer to 10" or so.
