Haven't been on here much for a while and just saw this...

I didn't seem to receive a PM from you.

I did receiver the new cover sometime last year and installed it, that was when one of the black cover straps broke.

This might sound like a silly question but........

Has anyone mounted there CVT directly to a bed rack without using the extruded aluminum rails? I am building the bed rack to fit the tent base and was thinking that I could have more points of contact for additional support mounting by mounting it directly.

Yes, I have mine attached directly to the rack on my trailer. It worked out great. Just make sure your rack is not so wide that it interfers with the removal of the cover or instillation of the annxe room. My rack has cross bars that support the bottom of the tent.

What are these straps for? The ones currently on top of the mattress.

no, really they're to help get in/out of the tent. grab the loops at the ends to steady yourself when entering/exiting

So basically they are to assist with intoxicated campers getting in and out of the tents. But Weesa has a good idea since bringing a nice tie camping just seems silly.

I missed the group buy by a couple of weeks (unfortunately), so I was wondering does CVT give a small discount to members outside of group buys?

Also looking at getting a Mt. Rainier for my first CVT. Any accessories you guys suggest ; maybe awning or anti-condensation mat?

Saw this on CVT's Instagram account this morning, looks like a pretty awesome idea. Haven't see info on the website yet though. Anyways thought you all would enjoy it.

This might be a shot in the dark..........but I'm going to be buying a Mt. Rainier, and will mount on Relentless Fab Bed Bars. However I want to know if only 2 bars will do the job of holding the weight of people + Mt. Rainier.

I've seen photos of CVT on only two Relentless Fab Bars, but they were smaller models of CVT. Of course, three would distribute load easier, but that would depend on the base of tent + mounting structure....which I'm not familiar with yet.

Any help or opinions will be greatly appreciated!

I would get 3 or get a rack that has a solid/continuous rail along the top of the bed to help distribute the weight. Two bars may be fine to support the tent and campers but I'd feel better having more support to prevent damage to the bed and plastic liner. Just my opinion though. Give CVT and Relentless a call and see what they think.

Are there any videos or instructions out there about how these tents are installed? I'm currently trying to figure out my bed rail system, and I just want to make sure that I get something that's future compatible with one of these tents. I'm not finding much on their site as far as installation goes.

I believe there are two rails underneath the tent, which you can slide the brackets up and down. Correct?

I just need to know how flexible this system is. Are you able to move these rails to alternate positions - or is their width apart from each other set? Are you able to rotate their orientation?

I'm currently leaning towards the Mt Hood if that matters. In this picture (which is how I would want it set up), would the rails be oriented along the length of the truck? Or perpendicular to that?

    Thanks for any info.

The rails typically run the width of the tent. I believe on the Rainier and Hood tents you can switch the direction without any problems as the width/length are about equal. Switching the direction on smaller tents like the Bachelor/Shasta would mean that you'd have to either deal with the ends of the rails sticking out or chop them off to size. The rails also typically run the width of the tent so that they are running perpendicular to the aluminum supports embedded within the tent base. With the hardware provided (bolts and plates) the maximum diameter/width of material that you can use for the bedrack is about 2". Any more than that you would need to source longer bolts and wider plates. The setup recommended/provided by CVT works with 99% of the roof racks and bedracks out there as the supports of the racks run the width of the vehicle.
As far as installation goes...there are 8 small plates that you slip the bolts through and those then go into the rails attached to the tent. allowing all of the bolts to move independently and adjust to the width of the bedrack/roofrack as needed.

    Hope that helps

I think I got most of that.

I understand. But I'm considering something like this, from Relentless:
    bedrails_zps8a4w5njt_2f2121ded447d7838fc5b933fa95aa9591e96987.jpg

My concern is if those bed bars, running the length of the truck, happen to line up exactly with the rails on the CVT tent (in red). If that were the case, and I was unable to reposition the rails, I think I'd be screwed. I certainly wouldn't want to offset the entire tent that much to either side of the truck just to avoid those bars.

Is there information somewhere that states the measurements of the rails underneath a Mt Hood??

I have the exact Relentless Bars in the pic above and a Mt. Rainier from CVT, I will mount the tent tonight for the first time and take pics of it afterwards if it helps any. I bet if you ask Bobby of CVT he will take the measurements you want.

Even with those extra connecting bars? Sweet. Yeah, definitely let me know. Good luck on the install. Would love to see pics.

Ah I didn't notice the bars running the length of the truck bed! I just have the regular bed bars that go across the bed. I'll still post pics though, I'm almost through the install.

Hey bud, I didn't forget about ya, had some things come up tonight to which delayed my install. I just finished my install, one thing I will mention is I had to buy longer bolts to allow the brackets fit around the Relentless bars. I'll get pics tomorrow when there is more light out!
