@ Grund. I was able to stick the 3M velcro on the top tailgate protector and my soft topper aligned perfectly. This allowed me to avoid putting anything sticky on the painted portions of my truck. Good luck

i had put it there initially. it kind of works but the bottom edge is all scrunched up as you can see in this pic. does yours fit without having to do that? for all intents and purposes, it works. it's just a little goofy looking and compromises the corners a tad.

You may want to mount the rails closer to the front of the truck to eliminate the scrunch. I have mine about half inch from the front of the bed and everything aligns perfectly. Now, I still have a little wiggle room on the corners but its a $500 soft topper not a $3000 hard shell.

    Just purchased, armor on order
Based on the reviews in this thread, I ordered a Tan soft topper today. Putting it on a 2012 Green Dbl Cab. Will post pics when I get it put on.

Mine is scrunched because I put the Velcro on the top of the tailgate rail rather than on the face of it. I may extend the plastic arms out and see if I can get by without velcroing it at all.

I ran the rails a little farther back (maybe 1/2") and did not put any Velcro on my tailgate. Just the bar and the little things it pops into. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1341519085.759700.jpg
Works fine. No flapping at highway speeds and no leakage.

Looks good black on silver. I use the velcro to keep dust out, especially needed since we sleep in the bed camping. Just play with both the rails and tabs and you'll find the sweet spot.

I just noticed that the clamps on mine are different than a couple of others I've seen in the past day or so. Mine go over the rail and clamp on rather than into a hole in the side of the rail like the one above.

Where are you guys putting the snaps for the front flap? I went the velcro route and just put 3 strips of velcro along the top-side of the bed (behind the front accessory rail).

I normally leave the softtopper up, but with the back and sides rolled up. It worked out great for a while but I'm finding myself pulling over on the highway often because the velcro is coming loose and the front flap is banging against the back window of the cab. Not fun...

I found a place that cost the same as softopper but had free shipping, I think it was truck candy.

I ended up putting the velcro on the paint, I didnt want to but it worked best there. I didnt want the flap rubbing on the paint and I figured the glue will come off.

I used the velcro and the snaps on the front, screwed the snaps right into the front wall of the inside of the bed. It holds very tight, no movement at all.

I did the same thing with the velcro on top of the rail. That's when I had major problems with the wind pulling it off.

To fix it, I pulled it down as tight as possible on the inside, put a line of velcro on the wall of the bed, and then followed ag4892's advice and added the snaps. Solid as a rock now. The only bummer is that the snaps aren't spaced in line with the bed ridges so it looks weird when the top isn't on. But I'm just weird about symmetry....

Yeah the wind is the cause for me as well.

Did you remove the front accessory rail? When I set mine up, it got in the way and I don't remember the snaps coming down far enough past it.

No mine pulls down a good 6-8" past it, nearly halfway down the front of the bed (guessing from memory).

My sister has had a soft topper on her first gen for a few years now. I always liked the look and utility. I found a sweet deal on CL for $350 that i just could not pass up. It took me all of 20mins to install and i could not be happier.

Put it on last night. Took about an hour. No problems except the dogs wanted to help. If the tail gate is down, they want to be in the back of the truck.
