Makes me wish I would have ordered tan instead of black. Truck looks good!

I'd advise against the doggy window option. It's a neat concept but doesn't hold up well. The wind force aganst it pushes it too hard, forces the flap into the cargo area, and lets airflow into it. The main culprit is the velcro, which peels off the main window part. Perhaps if I lived in a colder climate where the Velcro strips would hold up better, it may work out. I'm ordering a normal window to replace it in the morning.

I love my soft topper. Im on my 2nd one. The first one was 10 years old we had guessed and it was still almost mint.
It was gray and i wanted black was the only reason i sold it. I liked how it fit better. Nice and low. The new one is taller for the Tacoma cab.

    old one

    Thanks so much! Rep added.

I really want to install mine now buts its -1C. Not sure how the sticky end of the velcro would hold up.

Retired my softopper for a llpittle while yesterday. Upgraded to an ARE shell as of last night. Have nothing but good things to say about the softopper though. I plan on switching in and out. Probably hard top in winter and soft top in summer.

Awesome truck, and good info on your old softopper. The one I have is 3 years old and has been on the majority of the time and still looks great so hopefully I can get 10 years out of it.

Thanks! I can't believe how well it lasted. My new one seems to be fading a little bit. They say not to use a protectant but I think I will use some 303 stuff. I loved it on the truck and car for years

I finally got a chance to install it. The rain came right after. I have to do a couple small adjustments because the corner's have some small gaps. I hope it's clear out tomorrow to do this.
Overall I'm happy with it and like it much better then my Extang Trifecta Tonneau cover. I can't wait to go sleep in this thing :)

Recently put on a soft topper in place of a hard shell.

There are a couple reasons why I switched:

    1. Versatility. I like being able to put the top all the way down or take it off completely by myself to load tall items.

    2. Weight Savings. My truck is a bit chunky so I decided that this was one area I could drop some weight.

    3. I can open up the side of the soft topper to access my fire extinguisher, first aid kit or hi lift jack without having to open up the swingout and drop the tailgate.

Truck looks badass with the softopper.

So do you! I want to build a truck similar to yours for my son when he starts getting a little bit older.

Thanks, he would be a lucky boy! I almost didn't build my truck. I almost wound up with an 08 white taco. Xtra cab manual, charged with the locker a d sport hood. I backed out last minute and sunk the money (and then some) in my 87.

Still would like one for a daily

Alright, so i just read through 9 pages of nothing but good words about the soft topper.

I'm looking to get one for my 2010 Access cab but the only question to you owners is this....

The only thing i am worried about is waking up one morning in Tahoe and seeing 3 feet of Sierra cement (Heavy tahoe snow) crushing the frame like a soda can.

Does anyone have any experience with just how much these things can hold?
I know ideally i would put the top down if i knew it was going to dump a few feet of snow but like we all know sometimes things dont go as planned.

    Thanks in Advance!

They are strong but I'd say 3 feet of snow may be too much. I know they have kits to mount racks on top so you may look in to that. I have had a foot maybe two on my old soft topper with no issues but it wasn't super damp snow. My truck rarely sits out but a few times I had it at work and forgot a scraper so had to drive home with it on top.

Anyone have a solution for the small gaps at the front corners of the bed? Does everyone have these? Or do I need to stretch it forward more?

I can see light on mine too, but because of the loop of fabric I never see water come in there.
    You can always add velcro
