    Yo -

What does TacomaWorld think about the likelihood of vandalism to, or theft of soft tops when parked overnight in cities? Are there any soft top theft prevention mod ideas out there? If it is sliced up, can it be easily repaired?

    Background:

I live in San Francisco and street park there Friday through Sunday night. I really want to get a Softopper, but am concerned about assholes slicing it open to take a peek, or worse, taking the whole damn thing. I'd prefer to keep it collapsed with the cover to show there is nothing in the bed and only pull it up when needed. Unfortunately it is kind of like a wrapped up Christmas present. Maybe a mod to lock it to the bed somehow?

I've already had one smash & grab, so I don't leave anything in the truck, ever.

Can you keep just the back window rolled up? That's a pretty good indicator that there isn't anything to steal. Won't stop the random vandal, but at least a thief will see there isn't any reason to slash it. GL

Hmm. Didn't think of that. Maybe rolling the sides up would reduce the opportunity for side slashing from random jerks, too...

Then the OP wouldn't have to worry about his soft top but a stolen tailgate instead!
