I wish there was an electric window in the rear with an up/down feature. And the stereo aux. input sound is pathetic. Now I have to get a new head unit just to hear the iPod.

If I had to do it all over again I'd had pulled the trigger on a 6cyl engine with 6-speed manual transmission instead of 4cyl 5-speed.

What is it "specifically" that you don't like about the 4 cyl.? Do you use your truck like a truck daily, weekly, once a month? Can you not get the options that you wanted on a 4 cyl. that you can with a 6 cyl? I've been looking at a 4 cylinder for a long time and was thinking that is the way I would like to go.

I hate the tinted glass, can it be removed? The radio isn't loud enuf and it needs rear speakers.

I realize I bought just about the smallest pickup available in America, but I'm 6'2" and could use a tad more legroom. I don't think it would've killed Toyota to put in some sound dampening insulation, too. Otherwise, I'm content!

My truck (2011) in particular has been a bit disappointing. I love it, but it was made in Texas, and I have no faith in lazy Americans building a Japanese anything. (don't hate the truth) Now, the list:

1)My steering alignment can be knocked out of whack with a kick of my foot.

2)No real options for reg. cab/short bed. No power anything, but steering. No cruise, pwr. windows, pwr. mirrors, pwr. door locks, or fog lights...

3)Sliding rear window latch broke twice in 6 mo. Now the entire rear window has to be replaced. (covered by fact. warranty) There's a channel for the srw to slide, but they made it the same length on either side of the window hole, so there's no stop, other than the latch. Which, was merely glued on and held together by 2 electronics screws.

4)Bench seat does not adjust. Forward, backward, and fold. Nor does it have an armrest.

If the question is, what would I have done differently? I would have saved an extra $15k and bought the top of the line TRD model...

I'd be happier with an extended cab instead of regular cab, and I dislike the tonneau the PO had on it, that I still haven't been able to sell after 5 months of trying.

No cruise, relatively inconvenient oil filter location, and my particular truck was put together by the UAW.

2012 TRD Sport...Center console release button...why oh why is it right in line with the seat belt latch. EVERY TIME I go to put on my seatbelt..the damn center console opens up. They couldn't put in on the front lip and still have it hinged the same way as it is? Often times the simplest things get missed, but can be so friggin annoying..

    Otherwise the truck rocks..lol...:p

Certainly wish the rear window was like that on the Tundra...but I found a mod on TW that would power that puppy up in a jiffy! That certainly made the list of To-Do's...

Soft paint on my 2012. I already have a dozen chips and my truck is only a few months old. The paint is terrible.

my front right tire only had 127 hairs on it while the other 3 had 128, and it doesn't handle like a porsche.

Just wish it had more "omph" at times. Truck is driven maybe a couple times a month in summer months, daily during winter unless roads are dry and clear. I still like my truck and have no plans to trade in or up grade. It's still a great vehicle but next time it will be a 6cyl if I stay Tacoma line when it's time for up grade..

    I thought I had...
Next time, I'm buying an '83 Toyota 4x4 pick up and restoring it completely. It will be cheaper, I can fill it with modern amenities, and I'll know it's actually Japanese! I hate this time in history. Nothing works, and no one wants to be bothered with just a little bit of pride in craftsmanship.

We have always used Toyota's because we felt they were the toughest work truck in the world for our ranch - at the end of a 11 mile rocky, dirt road. This is rural Northern Arizona in extremes of cold and heat where your life might just depend on your pony's health in the middle of the night. After making an expensive commitment we bought a 2006 Tacoma 4x4 extra cab. We are conservative in driving - just trying to get to the feed store and home in one piece. We don't abuse anything. We often need 4 wheel drive in floods and mud but we still take it easy. From day one the truck would bottom out with two bales of hay (200 pounds) just driving on the low speed, dirt road. Is this a work truck or a 'shopping mall' 'pretend' truck for wealthy teenagers? A year later the left engine mount cracked off the frame - a cheap, thin frame. Finally we saved enough money to fix that with an expensive weld. Then the right rear spings snapped apart with no load in that back at all except for the shell. And we are still making $400 plus per month payments. We do have a camper shell. This is a wimp of a truck. Maybe it looks nice and drives smooth on city pavement but it is a joke on a working ranch. So now we saved enough to get a $500 spring replacement, The Flagstaff Spring man said that half of his income comes from fixing Tacoma truck springs. He says the other half of hi bisuness is Ford truck springs. We are disapointed overall. Tacoma is no longer the best small work truck - or even a good work truck. This will be our fourth Toyota and our last. Now we are looking at American trucks (with equal fear). This has been a sad, expensive experience. What happend to those wonderful engineers and to that Toyota pride they use to have. I'm sure they realized the product was poor but they pushed it out anyway. Some of us have to work with our trucks - not just pretty them up for pictures. If Toyota wants to hear what a rancher needs in a reliable truck give us a call.

I cannot stand the temp controls. I have never seen where you can not put the temp control all the way down on cool and not have the ac come on. They even put a max ac button on the dam thing. It makes no sense to me.

Another thing I hate is that the seats on a $35k truck are only back and forth, no up or down. I have not seen seats like this since the 70's.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I just pulled into a place and a guy in a delivery truck came over and said my truck was Bad Ass and said he has a AC V6 4x4 and it doesn't matter if he tows his boat or not he gets 16 mpg. He seemed to be thinking about the 4 cyl.

    I think I'm getting something like 21.1.

No doubt the 4 is gutless on the low end but my 4cyl pretty much lays a beating on everything I've come across cruising on the freeway, including V6 Tacos.

    3 years now and ok.

    I'd buy another one.
