The only thing I don't like about the truck (that I haven't fixed... yet) is the mud flaps. Once I find some rubber ones or trim mine down, it'll be perfect.

Gotta agree on the Orange lights, and clock. Cannot even seee clock in bright sunlight.

    Plastic interior.
    No climate control
Only Dirvers side window does single push down/up
    no leather from factory (07)
    Thin paint.

I compare alot of this with my 99 4runner which had these features, in a truck that was 8 years older.

    But I can't complain......

    * ditto on the tick tick tick
    * slight clunking suspension noise nobody can figure out
    * two of the cheap plastic mudflaps broke off - one from kicking the ice off it (aren't mudflaps supposed to be able to take that) the other ripped off on a steep incline (shouldn't a good mudflap bend)
I've noticed a lot of people take them off, but I live in NM - we have a lot of mud!!!

That it has been trouble free for 7 years and then Toyota has the "balls" to re-frame it....Now I have no excuse to trade it for new...;)

Gas mileage absolutely sucks so far 16mpg! (easy driving on highway) Hoping it will get better.
Interior seems really cheap especially for almost $40000
Paint scratches just looking at it
Parking brake in the manuals is straight out of the 70's (my knee hits it every time)
    Interior color too light
    Should have heated mirrors

It is a bit depressing reading all of this negative stuff but nothing is perfect... is it? My only major complaint so far is lack of a power drivers seat so you can fine tune your comfort. I find it hard to believe they dont offer one.

Cruel trick they played on the new owners of manual-transmission trucks. Thinking I was buying a truck with a manual and that it would get at least equal to if not better gas mileage than the '07 I traded in which had an auto trans and would usually get around 21 mpg on the highway. If I had known this I would never have gotten the manual trans even though I prefer driving a manual shift vehicle. So I would have to say the big three problems are really shitty gas mileage, extremely shitty stock sound system, and the weak suspension they put in these trucks. I can't really do too much about the gas mileage, I fixed the suspension issues, and getting ready to fix the sound system which has cost (so far) around 1100. Overall fairly disappointed in this truck which cost 29000. Oh well I am keeping this one since it costs too much money to keep trading off all the time.

    Minor list of gripes:

    1. Ever since getting the rear leaf TSB, my suspension is creaky. Ride is proper, but no amount of cleaning and lubing seems to clear up the loud creaking.

    2. Crappy front mudflaps that bottom out easily

    1) Weak tailgate
    2) Armrest material-should have used vinyl-the cloth Toyota (Hino) chose has no business being used in a pickup
    3) Creak with the TSB springs during max flex
    4) No d-rings in the front of the bed
    5) Weak factory skids in the TRD Off-Road
    6) No factory locker in 2wd or 4hi (the 2009 F-150 FX4 has a 4hi/4lo locker and the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor has 2wd/4hi/4lo electric locker)
    7) Weak brakes & no rear discs

Overall, I'm really happy with the truck...I'd consider these items only suggestions for improvements.

Additions to my past post on this thread now include crappy paint.
My truck is less than 3 months old and the paint is chipping away on my hood. I am now really disappointed in this truck. I wish I had keep my old 99 Taco instead.

Toyota quality has really fallen in the 2nd Gen Tacoma's. It is a shame too. Such a nice looking truck until you actually drive it.

Thank the environmentalists. Water based car paint sucks. You should see the front of my 2007 Civic. The paint looks 10 years old.
