Rokblokz mud flaps....

Just installed these today I got them for my birthday yesterday. They are not as flexible as I would of thought but they don't hang as low as stock flaps. The rear is about 12 3/16" off the ground and the front is about 11" off the ground. All my suspension and wheels/tires are STOCK at the moment.

Hey sorry for the late reply! I like them a lot! They sit up higher than stock and don't scrap anything really. I'm going hunting all week and the weather is nasty so I can let you know how they do in the mud and what not next week.

 

subd. I just got my tacoma a month ago and the one thing i keep going back to is the height of the front mud flaps. I mean its an off road vehicle with the very real reality that the front flaps get taken off by a speed bump. My friends will never let it go if i tear it off going through a parking lot.

Has anyone done any experiments with front flap height vs adequate protection for the lower panels?

 

Trim the stock flaps. There is a thread for this in the cheap mod section. Cut them off with tin snips, shape a little bit with the snips, then use a small palm sander with 80 grit to complete the round corners. My original ones would bottom out leaving while my driveway on the small concrete curb-n-gutter. ridiculous LOL. Trim a couple inches off and see if you like the new height. You can always trim more......

 

Trimming won't fix the real problem. The real problem is that they are too stiff. They can break your flares if you hit them on a rock off roading. If your not off roading any then trimming would get you off the speed bumps.

 

Your best bet is to replace the stock ones with something flexible. Adequate protection is up to you. I like the stock length for the protection it provides from gravel so I run flexible flaps. The only thing that rips them off is backing up and getting the flap between an obstacle and the tire. I usually wind up replacing all four flaps once year.

 

Are these rokblokz the regular or short?

 

Looks like the mud flaps those Rally car guys have on their Subaru Sti and Mitsubishi Evos even though 95% of them drive it on pavement. At least you're going off road with them.... I hope

 

Here's some photos. I was hunting all week in some bad weather. They held up good. They are the short ones. And they are regular not the oversized tire flaps you can also get from them.

 

Would they be flexible enough to so that if I got the long ones they would hold up in ruts and the like?

 

I'm curious of the flexibility too. We have a lot of rocks on the trails here and I wanna make sure they will be able bend and not pull to much on the flares like the factory ones.

 

I have the short ones like I said. The rear ones will flex to the tailpipe when everything is stock height. They don't flex that much. The front ones will only flex about 50-60degrees backwards I would guess. The rear ones go about 70-80 degrees backwards.

 

Dink, your description and comments led me to buy the short for my soon to be lightly lifted double cab. I've worn my stock flaps out on short obstacles and looking forward to replacing mine!
