    Hey all,

Just purchased a set of Torchstar LED's for headlights (H4) and fogs (H11). I've seen a lot of users with the Lifetime LED's, but not these.

I ordered them on ebay from Torchstar, but got a call from Torchstar today for a free upgrade to the second gen H11's and $18 more for the H4's.

They are 3,000 Lm and 6,000 K color temperature. They don't have fans, which is why I went with these. (Not that I've heard anything bad about the ones with fans.)

I'll report back when I get them installed.

    New (second gen H4/H11):

Quick update. So far so good. Install was simple, light output is good, cutoff is good. No complaints so far. I haven't had a chance to run with them for a long distance, just through town, but overall a great set of headlights ;-) Color temp is mostly white. I was slightly concerned that 6k would be too blue for my liking, but it appears mostly white.

I'd like to see a side by side comparison of these and halogens shining on a wall a good distance away to get a better idea of how good the cutoff and focus are. :D

It appears that these bulbs are carbon copies of the same ones I have. Just whiter. They must be using different CREE diodes and the color SHOULD be advertised to 5000K. Nice find. Hell, I might replace my new replacement bulbs for these once I get my truck back this weekend. :D

    Welcome OP!

Anyone have any results? I'm pretty interested in these since they don't have fans and the price seems better too... Still ...

12TRDTacoma, how long have you been running the other less-lumens set of these? How do you like them? I'm torn between trying a set of these and a set of BriteAss LEDs but since these are cheaper and fan-less (one less point of failure) I'm leaning towards the 3000lm set of these as of right now...

I would still like to hear some results from a couple of people after running these for a few weeks as well so I'm going to keep my eye on this thread for a while...

Sorry for the lack of updates... I'm a terrible person and work has kept me out of town.

CountryBoySC - the LED lights have been great. No issues and they're bright. I think the fog light anytime mod would be sweet with these.

I also just bought a 50" curved LED bar for the roof :bananadance: (which will get delivered today) and additional fuse block, breaker, and OTRATTW switches. So I'm hoping to take a day off work this week to weld some roof mounts, then spend about 18.6666666667 hours playing with wires.

I'll also toss the factory bulbs back in one side for a better distance comparison shot.

 Dude, no need to apologize I was just trying to keep the thread active. In fact, I probably need to apologize as that wasn't the most appropriate bump in the world either.

I don't go out of town for work very often but, I can totally sympathize via long hours and not feeling like getting on the computer in the evenings... I work with technology all day and sometimes don't really even want the TV on after work...

Back to topic; I am getting pretty desperate to do something with both my heads and fogs since the time change has left me commuting in the dark and the stocks simply suck... Plus, it's deer season and I usually have to be more careful to be aware of the possibility of them stepping out on the road after dark.

Thanks for the updates too! I am interested but, there's no rush on pics either... Depending on which way I go (either these or B.A. LEDs; leaning towards these at the moment) I'll post before and after pics when I get to that point too... ;)

In snow bound areas, does the lack of heat allow snow build up?

^ interested in this as well. sidenote, i have read that cities that get snow and converted had issues with this.

what is the output like after driving on roads w/ the mag chloride? being from denver, you know first hand how this greatly diminishes the output of headlights!

    Two questions -
    • Does your blue BRIGHT indicator on the dash work with these?
    • Do your lights turn off when you turn the truck off and open a door (when leaving the switch to on)?

I ask because in my 1st Gen truck, the LED headlights prevent those two things from working.

I've driven through quite a few wet/icy storms this winter thru the mountains and I haven't had any significant issues with snow build up.

Mag chloride / road grime is the worst, especially when it covers up the roadway lines! I can't be sure whether or not the mag chlor is any worse with the LED's or not, but it's something I've been paying attention to even prior to reading this. Regardless of what lights or color temp you run you'll see less light output, so I just try to keep my headlights and fogs as clean as possible.

Yes, the bright indicator and headlights and fogs shut off with the door opening as normal.
