BTW - I like mine so much that I made sure that my new truck was a long bed. As I traded in my 07' AC 2.7L, I told the dealer that the tonneau cover was NOT included in the deal. With the papers signed, I parked the two trucks next to each other, and I removed the Access LE from my old truck and put it on my Double Cab in about 40 minutes. It would have gone more quickly if I didn't need to reinstall the bed rails on the old truck.

How does the Access roll cover work if you get a load of mulch dropped in the back with a front end loader? Will it hold up?

it should be rolled up out of the way... the rails are very sturdy, but I wouldn't put more than 100lbs on them. I have had 2 loads of dirt in the bed of my truck without any problem. I even rolled up the tonneau cover over the dirt to prevent it from being kicked up at everyone behind me.

I will be picking up some mulch this weekend. I will try to remember to take pictures.

When I had a load dumped in the bad some spilled onto the roof- so if the rolled up cover had been rolled up by the back window it would have taken a hit- just wondering how the rolled up tonneau cover will react to being mistreated....

It is really durable. I am extremely impressed with it. That being said - everything has a breaking point, and mistreatment is going to accelerate that.

I am still very happy with my tonneau - several years down the line. Great for loading bikes and other stuff quick and on the fly, and can be rolled out to cover the bed simply and in any weather. Love it!

Does anybody know if you have to use the clamps w/ d-rings for these tonneaus? It sounds to me like you bolt the brackets in behind the factory rails.

Without much knowledge of tonneau covers, I went ahead and picked the Access Tonnosport because I work for Velcro Group Corp and figured I should support the company product (hook and loop is supposed to be good for thousands of cycles, in case anyone was wondering). I had the installation done by Line-X of Bow in New Hampshire. I'm not sure they if they used the right equipment for the installation because I didn't get clamps (like the one from the post above) did. Instead, they (Line-X of Bow, NH) removed my rail system and put the Access rails behind the factory rail and screwed everything back together. What ended up happening was that the access rail (that the edges of the cover sit on) stuck out a little bit over the factory rail thereby killing the ability to use the tie down cleat. In order to maintain use of the deck rails without purchasing new tie downs (Toyota wants something between 38-45 bucks for just 2 of the mini tie-downs) I ended up doing was shaving off half of the cleat with a belt sander and replaced the round knob with a SS washer and SS 8 mm wingnuts. If anyone wants pictures, let me know.

I had looked into the Truxedo as well, but was told that blocks the rail system completely. Maybe the guys at Line-X were incorrect, but they claimed that the Access tonneaus are the only roll-up covers that maintain use of the factory deck rail system.

Sorry to hear you lost use of them. I have the access literider and I can still use my tie downs.

Any of the lo-profile covers will lose the use of the cleats, (Lorado, tonnosport, vanish etc). The reg profile Literider, access, and premier maintain the use of there cleats. I liked the look of the Lorado choosing not to use the cleats. I like the lo-pro look.

what kind of modification is necessary to make the tonnosport work with the factory bed rails?

I took the existing tie-down cleat, removed the bulky knob and then shaved off half of the round protrusion that runs into the top of the tonnosport rail. Then I replaced the knob with a stainless steel washer and a stainless steel wingnut (M8 1.25). You can tighten, untighten and move it around the same way the existing cleat works.
