Flowmaster 40 Series Muffler Review

I was sick and tired of a quiet 4 banger, so I decided to order myself a Flowmaster 40 series muffler. I cut the old one off and welded up my new one. The cost was roughly $100, but completely worth it.

As for noise I wanted something like a V8, but knew I couldn't get something like with my 2.7 liter. So I settled for the deepest most obnoxius muffler possible. I had read many reviews that said the 40 series was the loudest it gets for the Flowmaster series. However, after my install, it didn't sound that obnoxius but had a nice tone to it.

Again, it definatly isn't a V8, but it certainly has a nice tone to it. Another advantage of this muffler is that it felt that it gave me a little bit more throttle response. When I'd give it a little gas it would surge forward a little more powerfully than before. I read the that Flowmaster mufflers did more harm than good, but in this case, it felt like the oppasite.

Now this muffler is for everyone. The people that are particularily annoyed with droning mufflers will not like the 40 series. This muffler drones quite badly, especailly when criusing up hills on the highway. Personally, I like the drone, and thats one of the reasons I chose this muffler.

I'm waiting to get my cherry bomb extreme hooked up, just looking at it tells me that it should be loud and annoying

Glad you like it. Installed a Flowmaster 50 and new pipes from the cat back on my 05 4.0L. One thing about the Flowmaster, they do sound different. "that's louder than mine" is the response I get most from taco owners. Loud exhaust FTW!

 

I did the same thing about a month ago. I couldn't take the quiet ride anymore, so I opted for the loudest muffler. It's got a nice drone to it when cruisin and I love it.
