Red light camera license plate blocker

Just got a ticket for $450 in the mail this weekend for supposedly running a red light. I reviewed the video from some company the city pays to issue these tickets called "red flex", I was making a right turn and I actually did stop even though it was only for like a second, I did make a complete stop. so im gonna try and fight it

I was wondering if anyone has one of these license plate blockers ? cause I am really considering investing in one of these ASAP!

Tw will not help block you license plate illegally. Topic has been shut down before.
If you were at a red light and stopped for a second does that mean you passed while it was still red?

 

i haven't tried them yet, but i herd when you first get them they work. but also in the picture can you see your face in it. cause i got out of my ticket because they could not see my face.

 

well sorry , wasnt aware I was breaking any law.. I mean as it is they are taking your picture without your consent so if anything they are violating our rights

Good effort- but you are using public infrastructure. They do not have to do anything "extraordinary" to catch you violating the law. Just take a photo. If they had to install the camera in your car or do something else crazy...you could argue- but good luck with that.

The covers them selves are illegal in most states as them obstruct the plate in same fashion. And rights violation or not- Doing something illegal isn't the way to get around it. You think your civil liberties case is strong enuf- take it to court and get the ticket thrown out and then go after the company/municipality for damages-Best of luck.

 

you could say the license plate blocker is illegal , but in about 90% of the states in this country so is modifying your vehicle (lifting your truck, adding brighter lights, exhaust, etc) and that seems to be spoken about freely in here

 

Lifting and modding your truck while it may make it technically illieagal is different. Blocking your plate so you can do illiegal things for example run red lights or speed without fear of being caught is assinine.

 

also the red light cameras here if you want to turn on a red they recommend you come to a complete stop and hold for five seconds before continuing through the light, I don't know if yours was the same situation or not though.

 

down with red light cameras!!!! maybe thats why the guy hit it and knocked it over with his escalade. but yeh good luck fighting it. sometimes those stupid things just go off anyways for no apparent reason. like there is a rave going on or something

 

I would love to see where your 90% stats came from...and most of the posts here you'll see don't SAY follow the laws every time...but when a questionable mod comes up...It gets mentioned.

Lifting/Exhaust is also not in the furtherance of another illegal action...Lots of folks take their trucks offroad and some have trucks that are built entirely for offroad. The plate blocker is illegal...and the ONLY reason one would need a plate blocker is to run red lights/speed cameras.

If you want one- Go for it. If someone decides to give you info on it...Even better...but understand, as a community, TW does not condone nor allow discussion of illegal activities.

 

Yea pretty much no mater what it is, you still are breaking the law. there are some radars detectors they tell u when a photo enforced intersection is coming. since they are not illegal except in like 2 states they will tell u where to be extra careful. just check your state laws before you take my word. no matter what it still sucks getting a ticket.

 

so is it fair that people who dont have a front license plate and run red lights dont get these tickets cause of a technicality, when the law abiding people who have front and back license plate get raped in the wallet ?

I didn't say anything about fair- I said obey the laws or dispute them properly.
This example again-you are talking about doing something illegal to avoid getting in trouble for doing something else illegal.

And PS-If it's a light camera and it catches running a light- Not so law abiding. Not saying your situation doesn't deserve consideration.

I come to complete stop for 2-3 seconds and stay inside of 5 mph of the limit and don't have any issues.

 

If you ran the red light you are breaking the law. You saw the pic am I correct? If you were in it and it could see your face and license plate as well as you crossing while the light is red they you got what you were attemting to get. The law does not say you can drive on red if no one is coming.

 

Here is an idea why don't you just remove your license plate all together.

 

Camera enforcement = scam for cities to make money.

 

If you are obeying the law what does that camera matter? I haven't had any issues with them.
